Sleeps 6 + baby. El Olivo is a 3 bedroom villa with a large private swimming pool (12m x 5m), enclosed within a completely private, walled garden. Only a mile out of the town of Orgiva with its bustling Thursday market, El Olivo offers a rural idyll, nestled amidst orange and olive groves in serene, picturesque countryside. There is satellite TV and broadband. El Olivo is perfectly situated as a base for exploring the Alpujarras: it is an hour from Granada with its Alhambra, half an hour's drive from the clean sandy beaches of Salobrena, a picturesque fishing town with a Moorish caste, and a similar distance from the white villages in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Notes: El Olivo is a 3 bedroom villa with a 12m x 5m private pool for the exclusive use of guests. The house is very well equipped and comfortable, with satellite TV, broadband and a dishwasher. The large garden is entirely surrounded by a tall hedge, and in parts a stone wall and cannot be overlooked. It is laid to a lush, bouncy lawn around a 12m x 5m filtered pool, for the exclusive use of guests. Around a built-in barbecue, an outdoor table for 6, a swing chair and 4 loungers provide for a choice of comfortable seating. The pool area is safely fenced off. As both the house and the garden are laid out on one level only (with the exception of the upstairs terrace, which can be kept out of bounds to children, if need be), the house is recommended for those who find walking difficult, and - as the garden is completely enclosed - the house has been very popular for families with small children. Baby-sitting is available on request.

Coast/Beach, Golf, Skiing: Activities: walking, riding, yoga courses, massage (Thai, shiatsu, etc), painting classes. Information will be provided on arrival. Get in touch with the owner and ask for the details of the website for further information about the villa and the area, and for detailed information on how to get there, including seeking out the cheapest flights. The nearest beach is Playa Granada, with a wide sandy beach. There is a luxury restaurant, suitable for special occasions. A couple of miles away, the pretty white town of Salobrena has a wealth of history, a spectacular Moorish castle perched on a rock, and a little cove with many good seafood restaurants, where you can have freshly caught local fish grilled on charcoal in front of you. The nearest golf courses are on the coast in Playa Granada, just outside Salobrena, about 30km away (less than 1/2hr by car). The ski resort of Sierra Nevada is about 60 km away and makes an exciting day trip in the season.

Guest comment: This is a self-catering villa. You can find information about supermarkets opening hours, with directions, should you be arriving late. If you want a hamper on arrival with some basic foodstuffs, the owner can arrange that, for a small charge (6 euro plus the invoiced cost of food, which you would need to specify in advance).

Guest comment: What a fantastic holiday we had at the villa! The house was superb and the kids loved the swimming pool. The weather was gorgeous - we had a cloudless sky for the whole 2 weeks!!!!! The views surrounding the villa were breathtaking and we spent many a night lying on the sun loungers star gazing. We actually saw 3 shooting stars on our last night! A perfect end to a perfect holiday! Alison and family

This villa really had everything we needed inside and out. The pool and garden are wonderful for children and the roof terrace was great for breakfast and evening drinking under the stars! The views are incredible and the location is quiet and peaceful yet very close to amenities. It was clean and well maintained and the owner welcoming. We would recommend this property and are returning next year.

Fantastic Villa, Great Value

Returned this year to the villa. 1 week last year 2 weeks this year.
Villa is nice, comfortable and very homely. We love the garden and the pool we couldn't get the kids out of it. The mountain scenery is beautiful especially in the morning and evening. Carmen and her husband who own the villa a close at hand if you have any problems and they are a lovely couple. Definitely going back again next year.

A wonderful relaxing villa

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at El Olivo. The location is beautiful and the villa is ideal for a family - lots of space and amazing views. The garden is lovely and although a little cold to use the pool it was lovely. The villa itself is very clean and well laid out. We have a small baby and he loved the place too, the owner had even gone out and bought us a new highchair! Nothing seemed too much trouble. I hope that we can return again soon!!!
