Walks and treks:
This luxurious apartment is situated in a very peaceful, beautiful area which is a rare jewel along the developing Mediterranean coast. It is the perfect location for walking enthusiasts. From the doorstep, you can enjoy many walks through the olive and orange groves up the protected Sierra D'Irta Mountains. Some of these trails visit historical points of interest such as a restored hermitage (which is visible from the apartment's terrace balcony) and also gives amazing, breath-taking views of the coastline and landscape of the Azahar region.
Also starting from the doorstep you can go south on a coastal walk which leads down to Alcosebre and passes by old towers and beautiful quiet sandy coves. Definately worth doing! If you like a busier trail, the walk along the 10km promenade which links Peniscola and Benicarlo would be ideal. Those interested in walking are spoiled for choice!
Festivals & markets :
There are numerous festivals throughout the year both in Peniscola and the many surrounding towns and villages, the largest and most dramatic festival is in February and it is a carnival on par with Notting hill, also the festival of the prawn and the festival of las Fillas are all renowned in the area, but many many more go on all year round. The local tourist board will give you the most up to date information.
The town of Peniscola is a very pretty with all the charm of a traditional Spanish town, with pavement cafe´s and bars, serving the traditional tapas, it also hosts a large market every Monday. Vinaros, up north of Penicola, has it´s own bullring still in use today and surprisingly very popular.
Karting and quad biking, Skiing, other sports:
Alternative way to see the countryside around Peniscola is to explore by quad it on guided tours or by horseback. There is also a go-karting track just outside the town which had proven to be quite popular.
Golf:
The popular Panoramica Golf & Country Club are 20 minutes drive away- 25 kilometres near the town of Castellon. The 18 hole golf course is open all year round. They have a wide range of facilities such as lunch, dinner, tea/coffee, club bar, changing rooms, pro shop, club hire, cart hire, trolley hire, driving range and of course pitching and putting greens.
Advanced booking is recommended. Yardage is 7031. Additionally the spectacular Panorámica Golf & Country Club is the only course designed by Bernhard Langer in Spain. 18 holes within the beautiful Mediterranean landscape create a peaceful atmosphere in which to play complimented by a splendid climate for a deserved rest.
