The town has many bars and restaurants offering both traditional Spanish dishes aswell as Chinese, Thai and Italian, shops and a great local Friday market. A short drive away are the towns of Denia and Gandia with excellent markets and a large shopping centre/multiplex cinema in Gandia. Much of the Old Town of Oliva dates back as far as the 16th century and exploring the many streets and squares gives you the opportunity to discover the rich Moorish and Roman history of the town . The surrounding area of the Costa del Azahar is rich with fauna and wildlife and with the protected Oliva-Pego Marshes National Park and miles of untouched dunes it's great for birdwatchers and walkers alike. Cheap and cheerful

Review Submitted: November 16, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
A surprisingly pleasant experience. Roomy bedrooms with comfortable beds, fans in both rooms. Adequate sized kitchen & bath/shower room. Living area rather compact but our family of 4 managed to survive together OK!!!
We were met on arrival by Eileen who directed us personally to the property, which was very clean and tidy. Liked the fact that there were the basics in the kitchen ie T bags, coffee, washing powder etc to be replaced as used. Also, a selection of books, DVD's available to use.
Situated in easy reach of main shopping & eating areas. Local to bars, shops and parking.
There is a roof terrace but it gets very hot up there...
An altogether value for money property to be recommended, thank you Rowena

Great holiday base.

The house was perfect for our family of four & very clean. The couple who took us to the house were very welcoming & helpful & the neighbours were extremely friendly.
Oliva is a gem & isn't 'touristy' at all, but still has everything you need with plenty of bars, restuarants & a gorgeous uncrowded beach. Lots of good supermarkets & the well equipped kitchen (also BBQ on the roof terrace) means you don't have to eat out every evening, although we had some lovely meals out while we were there.
There is a noisy Cockeral that lives very close by, but we got used to it very quickly & didn't really notice it after a couple of days.
The access to the roof terrace is a lovely spiral staircase but quite precarious & I was relieved my children are teenagers rather than toddlers.
I would recommend having a car here - you have to park a little way from the house as the streets are very narrow, but we found that part of the charm & finding your car the next day is a great way of getting to know the area!
All in all we had a lovely, relaxing holiday, so much so, we want to go again next year!

Not your typical holiday location

k80 London
Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Pros:
Totally unusal place to stay - Oliva is not a tourist destination, we didn't even manage to find a single postcard during our stay... but if you're not into tourist trash (like us) it makes a nice change and the old town is very charming
The beach is increadible... really long, wide, clean and not at all over crowded.
Oliva is a good base too, we drove to various nearby towns during our visit, Valencia, Morella (actually Morella was a bit too far!), Denia and Fuentes de Algar
The house is excellent value for money

Cons:
The house smelt of damp, so we needed to keep the doors and windows open the whole time... which was fine as it was also very hot!
Long way from the beach... we walked it once... never again!
You can't really stay here without a car, but negotiating the narrow, winding streets of the old town and finding parking spots is not for the faint hearted!

Lovely Spanish Holiday

bus driver Bristol England
Review Submitted: September 24, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We have just returned from a week's holiday at this property. We were very pleased with the house it had everything you need for a relaxing time. The town of Oliva was lovely, the old town is just brilliant and we loved living there if only for a week. It takes a couple of days to get used to having to navigate the very narrow streets and a bit of puff to get up there. The house is ideally situated for trips to Gandia and Denia (both of which we thoroughly enjoyed), the beaches were excellent. We had a really good evening at the Viva Espana Restaurant (just outside Olivia), excellent food and a brilliant show. Oliva may not suit younger couples but for everybody else we found it to be excellent. The house was very clean and well maintained the couple who look after the house were very friendly and helpful to us. We would most definitely recommend this house especially for anybody who would really enjoy a proper "Spanish" holiday.

Cheap and cheerful in Olivia

Bad Man 45 Sheffield
Review Submitted: September 3, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
If you want a stay in a traditional Spanish house in the middle of a non-tourist area then this is for you. It's a lovely area but can be noisy! Couldn't track down the cockeril or we'd have had it in the pot! There was everthing there that we needed, but furnishings are basic. My teenage son liked the range of DVD's! I wouldn't go with particularly young children as the stairs are open. Parking can be an issue if you don't want a walk. there is a bus service to the beach but we used the car to try different parts. The beach is very clean and there are life guards on patrol. Plenty of bars and cafes. Very few Brits!
