Beaches & culture:
Rafelcofer is a traditional Spanish village and it is impossible not to slow down and relax. This part of the coast between Denia and Valencia is known for its miles of sandy beaches that are safe for children with gentle inclines and shallow water. The waves are great for boogie boarding! In peak months lifeguards patrol the beaches and water sports are available off the larger beaches such as Gandia, Oliva and Cullera. There are lots of other things to do in the region & we've had many happy family outings. The Aquarium in the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias is excellent & you can eat lunch surrounded by fish. In the City of Valencia there are numerous museums, historic buildings and parks such as the Jardines del Real, a hidden treasure with a children’s zoo, play areas and walkways where people stroll. Villages such as Pego & Altea offer great lunch stops, there are boat rides on Albufera Lake & for those wanting more excitement water & amusement parks in Cullera & Benidorm.
Activity holidays:
The province of Valencia is great for golf enthusiasts, who will find many courses. Oliva Nova, designed by Severiano Ballesteros has 18 holes & is about 15 minutes drive away from the village. El Saler (south of Valencia), El Bosque (in Chiva) & L’Escorpión (in Betera) also have 18 holes whilst Club de Golf de Gandia has 6. Other courses can be found in Denia (Golf la Sella), Golf Ifach in Benissa, and Golf Javea in Xabia-Javea. El Saler is considered in Spain to be exemplary.
There are two main hiking routes following the European paths, GR-7 and the GR-10. Touring by bicycle is popular and abseiling gullies, canoeing, horseback touring, gliding and paragliding can all be enjoyed.
How to get to Carrer del Cine, Rafelcofer:
Rafelcofer is about a 1 hour drive south of Valencia airport on the A7 motorway. Instructions can be provided. The drive from Alicante airport which is to the south is slightly longer, approximately 1 1/4 hours.
There are daily flights from the UK, and connections can be made with other European airports. Flights to Valencia are operated by Easyjet & Ryanair from Stansted, Easyjet from Gatwick & Bristol, Iberia & Click Air from Heathrow and Thomson from Coventry. This is not exhaustive - we can make suggestions about flights to Valencia & Alicante based on our experiences. A number of hire companies operate out of Valencia but be aware that some require you to catch a bus to collect the car. If you prefer to drive, it takes about 8 hours from the ferry port of Santander in the north. If you wear glasses you need to carry two pairs in the car at all times. Further information on driving in Spain can be found on the internet.
Other Activities:
Kite surfing, climbing, swimming pools in the village in high season.
