3 Bedroomed, 2 bathroomed house one hour from Valencia and Alicante.

Situated within the historic 'old town' of Oliva this typically Spanish townhouse commands spectacular views from one of its 'sun-trap' roof terraces, across the town and orange groves towards the coastline, and inland towards the mountains. Within walking distance of the pleasant town centre with its many facilities and attractions and only 2 miles from the beautiful, uncrowded beach of fine golden sand. The house is in a quiet no-through-road location with easy parking outside and close to the path which zig-zags up to the old castle ruins where the 'Semana Santa' procession winds its way each Easter. This can be watched from the terrace as can the firework displays which regularly light up the sky in Oliva to celebrate the various Spanish fiestas.

Oliva is a medium sized market town situated on the coast half-way between Valencia and Alicante. It is surrounded by citrus groves and backed by beautiful mountainous countryside littered with almond, olive and cherry trees. 2 miles from the 'old town' you reach the coastline with its safe, sandy beaches stretching for miles. Further south beyond Denia the coastline changes into a more rocky outline with smaller beaches and coves suitable for snorkelling and diving. Even further south (about 40 mins) is Benidorm with its many tourist attractions, theme parks and night-life. Valencia, host to the Americas Cup in 2007, lies about 75 km north of Oliva and is well worth a day visit, especially for the spectacular 'City of Arts and Science' complex. The train from Gandia northwards will drop you right in the centre of the city if you prefer to not drive.

Leisure Facilities: are varied and include bars, cafes, restaurants (Chinese, Indian, Spanish, English, Italian, Seafood etc), indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water-sports, cycle hire, a Nautical Club and Marina and golf clubs nearby including the luxurious Oliva Nova complex. There is walking in the mountains inland as well as waterfalls, historic towns and castles to visit. There are banks, shops catering for most needs (including several supermarkets) and a general and fresh food market every Friday. Markets are held on other days as well in the surrounding towns and villages. The uncrowded beaches of fine, golden sand backed by dunes are perfect for long walks along the shoreline, stopping every now and then to quench your thirst at one of the 'chiringuitos' (beach bars) along the way. If walking is not your thing, the Olibus runs the 2 miles from the town centre to the beach every 15 minutes in summer and slightly less regularly off-season.

Fiestas and Carnivals: are widely celebrated in Oliva all year round. The main fiestas are the 'Moors and Christians' in July and Semana Santa at Easter. Other major fiestas further afield in Valencia are the famous 'Las Fallas' firework and bonfire fiesta every March and 'La Tomatina' tomato fight in Bunol in August.

Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday. The house was fantastic and we really enjoyed ourselves. Olivia is a beautiful Spanish town with a lovely beach and very good facilities.

The house was as described and had everything we needed. We particularly liked the roof terraces and the views out to the sea. All very clean and well presented. Thank you for providing all the necessary equipment for the holiday, even a bat and ball, chairs and a rubber ring for the beach!!

The weather was brilliant all week which was a real bonus. We were just glad of the air conditioning!!
The owner was very helpful and sent us a map, and instructions for the house. The house had a lot of brochures for local attractions and a very interesting guidebook so we had lots of ideas for days out.

The town itself has a very good selection of restaurants including some traditional Spanish bars. The town has two chinese restaurants which were both very good. The beach was only 5mins away and the bus service was very regular (and cheap) from the town to the beach. The sea was very warm and very relaxing!
If your expecting Benidorm, Oliva is not your town, it is a traditional Spanish town with some amazing old buildings and the churches are fantastic, having said that it is only 30 mins to Benidorm if that is your thing!

If your considering going to this area we would recommend this house very highly. Everything you could hope for from a holiday.
