Leisure Facilities:
are varied and include bars, cafes, restaurants (Chinese, Indian, Spanish, English, Italian, Seafood etc), indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water-sports, cycle hire, a Nautical Club and Marina and golf clubs nearby including the luxurious Oliva Nova complex. There is walking in the mountains inland as well as waterfalls, historic towns and castles to visit. There are banks, shops catering for most needs (including several supermarkets) and a general and fresh food market every Friday. Markets are held on other days as well in the surrounding towns and villages. The uncrowded beaches of fine, golden sand backed by dunes are perfect for long walks along the shoreline, stopping every now and then to quench your thirst at one of the 'chiringuitos' (beach bars) along the way. If walking is not your thing, the Olibus runs the 2 miles from the town centre to the beach every 15 minutes in summer and slightly less regularly off-season.
Fiestas and Carnivals:
are widely celebrated in Oliva all year round. The main fiestas are the 'Moors and Christians' in July and Semana Santa at Easter. Other major fiestas further afield in Valencia are the famous 'Las Fallas' firework and bonfire fiesta every March and 'La Tomatina' tomato fight in Bunol in August.
