Further details for this holiday villa rental in Gandia, Spain

Location Information: This is an idyllic setting in a beautiful rural location. There are stunning mountain views and pleasant walks; the area is flat enough for cycling or mountain biking in the surrounding pine covered mountains. The village boasts 3 restaurants which serve the menu of the day, 2 small supermarkets, a baker, a local chemist and a hairdressing salon.

Attractions in the area: The town of Gandia is 20 minutes drive away and has excellent shops and supermarkets. As this is an area where Spanish people live and work the town is open all year, unlike more tourist based towns that partially close out of season. Gandia beach is reputedly the best in Europe with its white sandy beach and beautiful promenade. Inland are vineyards, orange and almond groves and quiet Spanish towns for those who like to explore. The nearest beach, Tavernes Playa, is only 15 minutes drive and the town of Tavernes de la Valldigna is 10 minutes away. Alzira, with its busy shops, restaurants and nightlife is 8 minutes away. A visit to Valencia city, hosts of the Americas Cup 2007, is recommended. Here you can visit the Oceanographic and science museum to name but two of the new tourist attractions. Benidorm, with its teeming night life and Terra Mitica theme park is an hour’s drive away.

15 Mar 2009 - 19 Mar 2009 Date to be confirmed This is one of the best-known and most emblematic festivals in Spain which continues to grow in popularity each year. Tens of thousands of visitors join the whole city of Valencia in this festival of fire, in a mood of excitement and gaiety. Fallas are giant figures built of paper mache, wood and wax, and which represent personalities and current events of the day. They may be symbolic or satirical in theme, realistic or comic-strip in style. Certainly they are elaborate, built with consummate care in different workshops around the city, over the course of the year. Known locally as 'Ninots', they go up in flames on StJoseph's Night (19 March), reaching a blazing climax near midnight, when flames leap skywards all over the city centre and thousands of fireworks discharge over the rooftops. Events unfold over several days beforehand, divided into Exaltation (Offering of Flowers),

Review for villa

Review Submitted: September 24, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
First class villa that we enjoyed very much, a real put up your feet and relax place. Owner was very helpful and had a nice welcome pack for us to get started on. The bikes were great for going around and taking in some of the mountain views. I would recommend this villa to any family looking for a real get away from it all holiday.

Villa Rosa - La Barraca

Mark & Lianne Rainham, Kent, UK
Review Submitted: September 14, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
The description on the website didn't really do the property justice. The living area is large and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen next to the "front" door which leads in from a very pleasant "naya" (at the r/h end of the photo). At the other end another door leads out onto the north-facing terrace and the pool. There are 3 good-sized bedrooms and a more than adequate family bathroom with plenty of linen and towels provided. In addition to the pool - perfect for a cooling plunge or a lazy wallow - there is a slightly undersized and well-used tennis court which kept more active members of the party occupied in the mornings and late afternoons - far too hot midday during our 2 weeks in August - and a games room. Robert originally built the games room as a fitness studio for Aniko and there there is some basic equipment to use if you wish but our kids loved the pool table (E1/game) in the evenings and our son is now something of a pool hustler!
The garden and grounds are generally well kept and there are several pleasant shady places to sit quietly with a book if that's what you want to do and just relax.
We had a 50% success rate with the BBQ! You'll need plenty of charcoal to get it really going well.
Everything was very neat and clean when we arrived and there was some bread, eggs, milk and beer in the fridge to get us started. Robert & Aniko met us at a bar on the main road into Barraca with a very welcome round of cold drinks to wash away the clag of the journey and pointed out the local Spar and the little shop for getting a fabulous takeaway roast chicken dinner, before leading us the final kilometre or so to the villa.
Mark made good use of one of the available mountain bikes, exploring the local tracks, running into Barraca for bread, and one day taking it on the train from nearby Alzira - excellent Carrefour - to explore Valencia - thoroughly recommended, especially the Jardines deTuria from the animal park to the port.
Beaches all along this coast are sandy and clean. We found nearby Tavernes to be always crowded and prefered those north of Cullera up towards the Albufera nature reserve, but wherever you go it is advisable to have some kind of sun-shade.
Cullera market and the Aquapolis water park are well worth a visit.
A stay at Villa Rosa is a great family holiday retreat with friendly hosts who know and care about the area and can help with useful suggestions from car hire to restaurants and excursions. Oh and Roxy is lovely.
Owner's Response: All reveiws have been very wecome especially when you feel the people who have stayed here have really enjoyed there visit. There is so much to do and see, sometimes not enough time to do it in. We are getting people allready wanting to book for the coming year.Thank you to everybody who have sent in a reveiw, and the famillies who left very good reveiws in our book at the villa.

An amazing villa

Review Submitted: June 9, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. I have to admit that it is the only villa we have ever stayed in and so cannot compare.
We were happy with the cleanliness and maintenance.
We felt very welcomed by the owners and although they are on site this was not a problem.
The surrounding area is beautiful. It is a little far from the nearest beach.
One small frustration was barking dogs in the neighbourhood - but one gets used to it.
I have already recommended this property to a friend.
I would say it is a quiet location. If one is looking for night life and attractions this would be too calm.
But we loved it.

Exceeded Expectations.

Review Submitted: June 3, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
As described, but exceeded expectations. If you want to chill out, if you want to walk, explore, test your spanish, a great strike out place, then this is for you. The owners are informative, extremely helpful but not in your face.
Close enough to many places if you want it, but extremely quiet and relaxing if you don't. We did 3 weeks and would have loved longer. Would recommed to anyone and would certainly hope to return again.
Thanks to the owners for a great holiday chill out.
Owner's Response: We thank the previous renters for their responce and kind words.
We are here to make renters feel at home and give all the advice and help we can to make your holiday one to remember.
We welcome all comments and surggestions so we can improve your stay.

Una estancia muy agradable

ed_bcn Barcelona (Spain)
Review Submitted: April 27, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
