Villa 'El Oasis' is set in a very private location in the desirable area of La Drova. Facing South West and basking in all day sunshine the villa has large grounds of just over 3/4 acre offering fantastic panoramic views of countryside and mountain range. The landscaped gardens are a delight with colourful shrubs, fruit and pine trees. There is a 10x5 metre private swimming pool and full size tennis court. For 'al fresco' dining there is a sunny terrace to the front of the villa and a second, complete with gas and charcoal BBQ at the side. There is also a glazed and covered terrace overlooking the pool, garden and mountains. The local village of Barx is only 3 minutes drive away and has a variety of shops and bars to satisfy your needs.

About La Drova: A beautiful sought after residential area close to the sleepy village of Barx. Just 20 minutes inland from the fertile orange groves and excellent sandy beaches that abound the area. The peaceful location avoids the humidity of coastal towns yet enjoys the Mediterranean temperatures combined with wonderful fresh air. Water in the area is of excellent quality. The local community is mostly Spanish with a growing British contingent. You will find locals friendly and helpful.

Nearby attractions: Whilst most visitors are happy to just 'chill out' at the villa, lively Benidorm and theme park Terra Mitica are only 1 hour drive south. Historic Valencia is 1 hour north. Inland are vineyards, orchards, orange groves and quiet Spanish towns for those who like to explore. Better known resorts such as Moraira, Denia and Javea are a short drive away. The nearby town of Gandia has excellent shops and supermarkets. As this is an area where Spanish people live and work the town is fully open all year, unlike more tourist based towns that partially close out of season.

Activities: For golf enthusiasts Oliva Nova golf course is approximately 35 minutes drive away and La Sella approximately 50 minutes (at Denia). Both are regarded as excellent courses. Walkers will find many stunning routes in the immediate area around the villa - just ask locals - they will gladly advise (there is a local walking group). The area is popular with cyclists both on road and off track.

My party was 5 motor racing fans in their 30s.

We've just spent a fantastic week at the Villa El Oasis in the La Drova / Barx area. The location of the villa is absolutely awesome, halfway up the mountain looking down and around at a stunning panoramic vista.

The villa itself exceeded our expectations. Clean, well furnished interior including a large master bedroom, 2 average sized doubles and a twin room, all with fans which I note the description doesn't state.

We made great use of the kitchen and BBQ areas and only went out to eat on 2 occasions. Lots of places to dine around the property, in the BBQ area, in a couple of outside terraces and 2 tables inside.

Free to air Sky TV channels and a freeview-like box provide access to british news channels coupled with DVD / VHS player and good selection of movies.

The pool was bigger than expected, hard to tell from photo on website and looks out upon beautiful scenery. Inflatables are great for kids of all ages (we are all in our 30s!) and there is enough room for about 6 adults to lounge by the pool.

The garage at the top of the front drive stored our 2 Fiestas comfortably however probably not bigger models. We tended to use the rear drive most of the time as it was flat and easier to get back on the road.

Well-maintained garden and nice paths that traverse the grounds add to the character of the villa.

We took a few short trips inland, the scenic viewpoint just past Barx is recommended for a few snaps. Barx itself is only village-sized but has a few eateries and bars. Avoid the Riu Rao restaurant, it's overpriced and you'll go home hungrier than when you arrived!

Gandia beach is excellent and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and nightspots to cater for families and the more livelier visitors.

The train from Gandia or Xeraco to Valencia only takes an hour and is airconditioned and comfortable. We had tickets to the F1 grand prix so didn't see the entire city but it definitely seems to be a city on the rise. The malvarossa beach to the east of the city is highly recommended.

Overall we had a great week both in the La Drova and valencia areas and loved the villa.
