This is "real Spain".

Date of Stay: August 2011
My wife, children (aged 5&4) and I stayed at this traditional Spanish villa for two weeks in August. It was perfect. The villa itself was spacious and spotlessly clean and well stocked with all the home comforts. The grounds and pool area were even more spectacular! The ground are completely enclosed and there is a gate on the pool area so there was masses of space for children to play safely. The large pool was a huge hit with the kids.
The villa itself is located at the end of a urbanisation with nowhere really to walk to however why would you need to when you can sit either on the terrace or at the side of the pool in private beautiful settings. The town of Ontinyent is a 10 minute drive away with lots of places to eat and drink and full of fantastic Panaderia's. We were lucky enough to be there for the annual festival which was an amazing experience.
There are many blue flag beaches within an hours drive and we would highly recommend Oliva beach. The city and beach of Valencia are also within an hour and well worth a visit. Eat lunch like the spanish in many of the restaurants in the area for around 8 euros per person for 3 courses including a bottle of wine! Also you must visit one of the local bodega's for the experience where the wine, albeit a peculiar, specific taste, was 1 euro per litre served from a huge vat.
Alan and Jeanette, the owners, were extremely polite and helpful and gave us a lot of advise about the local area. One thing they do not tell you before you visit is the additional extras they provide such as beach towels, bikes, parasols, deck chairs for the beach and even cool box and ice packs to keep the picnics cool.
A wonderful holiday in real Spain, fantastic villa and beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: What a lovely family, this is. We were a little wary having two toddlers stay at our villa, but there was absolutely no need to worry. The children were very well behaved and polite. The expressions on the children´s faces, when they seen the pool, told us that they were going to enjoy their stay. The weather was good throughout the two weeks, which gave the family ample opportunity to enjoy the pool and gardens, and explore the local areas.
Speaking to them, it was obvious that the parents had a likening for the town of Oliva. They also, and probably the children too, had a great passion for eating out. With so many tapas bars and restaurants to choose from, both here in Ontinyent and in Oliva, there was no way anyone was going to go to bed hungry.
It was fortunate that they were here in Ontinyent, when the town held its "moros y cristianos" festival. It takes place over several days, with a very colorful and spectacular procession of people and animals, numbering approx. 10,000, parading the streets.
The beach towels, cool box and beach chairs etc are a recent addition to what is supplied for the use of our guests. We´ll ensure that these items are listed in the amenities section of our listing.
At the end of their stay, the villa was left in an exceptionally clean condition, which was most appreciated.
It´s very possible that we may see them all again, in the future, but whether they book with us again, may be a "toss up" between our villa and a property in Oliva. Either way, we look forward to seeing them all again.
A truly wonderful family, and we wish them well for the future.
