Apartment in Barceloneta

This property was one of the more spacious properties that we found in the area, having two decent sized separate bedrooms and a lounge. Situated in Barceloneta, the apartment was in a beautiful old building in a relatively quiet pedestrian street. It was a short walk to the beach, close to a well-stocked market and supermarket, restaurants and 5 mintues from Barceloneta metro station. Also, only a short walk from the train station which goes direct to the airport in about 30 minutes.
The apartment itself was very well kitted out - towels and bedding were provided and in the kitchen was included a washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer. There was also an airer for all those soggy beach towels! For our daughter, there were lots of books, toys and dvds to keep her amused during the short amount of time we were actually indoors. The owner of the apartment, Kiki, was very polite and hospitable and said she was available at any time if we had any questions or problems. She left a manual for us full of information both about the apartment and the surrounding area. She also left a complimentary bottle of wine and box of chocolates!
We were only in the apartment for 3 days but we found lots to do, including visting Parc Guell, the Camp Nou stadium, the fun fair at the top of Mt Tribidabo, the cable car ride and castle at Montjuic, La Rambla and of course, the beach. It was very easy to get around the city on the public transport system as you can buy a family ticket consisting of 10 journeys, costing about 7 euros which permits you to travel on the metro and buses. We had a fantastic time and wished we could have stayed longer. The only slight draw back was that the apartment is at the top of a 5th floor building with no lift. We counted 90 steps, which, carrying a sleeping 3 year old, were at times a little tough. So if you are really unfit or have mobility problems, this one might not be for you. Other than that, everything was great!
