Golf:
Golf is very well served on the Costa de la Luz! Aside from Isla Canela’s Golf Club there are at least 5 other golf courses within an 30 mins drive. There is an 18 hole, par 72 golf course 5 minutes drive from the Marina, set in a beautiful landscaped setting with canals and palm trees. Buggies, trolleys and clubs are available for hire. A driving range is situated next to the clubhouse, which has a restaurant and outside terraces. There are also 2 bowling greens and a swimming pool. Islantilla Golf Club is a spectacular 27 hole championship course (currently being extended to 36) within half an hours drive and has all the facilities one would expect of a first rate club. It was host to the Spanish Open Golf Tournament in 1995 and in 2000 Golf Digest magazine rated it in the top 100 best European golf courses. Portugal courses includes; Castro Mari, Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima, Benamor ; all within 30 mins drive.
Food and Drink:
The Atlantic Ocean to the south and west of Isla Canela is the source of the wonderful fish and shellfish available at the island's many restaurants. Here you will find Spanish families coming from near and far to sample the gastronomic delights of the days catch. If fish isn't your thing, the marina restaurants can offer a change with burgers, steaks, crepes, pasta & pizza. A short trip into town and you have the full range of Spanish tapas and main course delicacies from several dozen restaurants. There are basic shops and a small supermarket within easy walking distance of the apartment with larger shops and supermarkets situated in Ayamonte. Ayamonte also has a daily meat, fish, fruit and veg market - get there early for the best choice. Villa Real in Portugal also has a good range of shops, remember they’re an hour behind Spanish time.
