Our invitation to you: come and relax in the welcoming warmth of safe harbours, absorb the culture of the sea, enjoy superb seafood cuisine and delight in one of the loveliest natural coastlines on the whole Mediterranean seaboard. On either side of the Delta and its long line of secluded unspoiled sandy beaches, there are two stretches of shoreline that are more similar to the rest of the Catalan coast. L'Ametlla de Mar is a fishing port with a great personality. The inhabitants refer to it as La Cala, the Cove, because of its natural harbour. Seafood cooking here is justly renowned. Swimming, sailing and walking are the best ways of capturing the beauty which the coast of l'Ametlla still conceals, where pine-trees are reflected in the turquoise-coloured waters. The marinas at l'Ametlla and Sant Jordi d'Alfama or Calafat make a good starting point for discovering cliffs and coves of an utterly unexpected beauty. L'Ametlla has opened up to welcome visitors to enjoy its culture.

The Ebro Delta, birds of passage
320 square kilometres in area and 25 kilometre entry into the sea. Is one of the outstanding water habitats in the Western Mediterranean. Flora and fauna, the naturalist's delight. A fascinating world. Walking and losing oneself in the unusual, almost real landscape of the Ebro Delta. Cat Fishing 15 minutes. (Fishing licences available on request) Canoeing 15 minutes. Bird watching 15 minutes. Casa Karmen could be considered as a purpose built eco-friendly house. It is powered by the latest Shell High Energy Solar Panels, which provide constant power to a bank of accumulator batteries. The stored power is then 'inverted' to provide constant 240 volts to the house. In order to reduce the carbon footprint even more, all the electrical appliances in the house have been carefully selected to work in harmony with the computerized power system. We had a really excellent stay, kids really loved the pool, the boy is now known as the merman. Excellent for quiet "family time" holidays although there is plenty in the area to do if you are willing to travel a small distance. Villa very clean on arrival and welcome pack is a real godsend so you don't have to spend your first morning at the supermarket looking for breakfast items. Would heartily recommend to anyone who wants to experience the real spain and not just for the alcohol and nightclub holidays most of the established resorts offer. If you are thinking of flying go to Reus instead of Barcelona - big difference in travel times. Car is essential, very reliable vehicle offered by owners. We are hoping to return next year!
