A 150 year old farmhouse, restored to retain its original character, with beautiful panoramic views over olive groves and across the valley to the Parapanda mountain. The whitewashed house with low-beamed ceilings, nestles on a hillside, and enfolds you with a sense of tranquillity. Although fully modernised it avoids the sterility that can characterise recently renovated buildings, but has a den-like ambiance in which old -style interior fittings seem to merge organically with the walls and floor in traditional Andalucian fashion. The accommodation consists of the farmhouse and a little adjoining house, sleeping 8 - 10, each with its own secluded terrace. There is a charming pool set in natural stone, and a 'wild' garden with pomegranate, almond and olive trees. The small town of Montefrio is only 5 min drive from the house where you can find all you need for your stay, and the magnificent city of Granada only 45km away.

Situated in the Sierra Subbetica region of Granada province we are 5 minutes drive from the spectacular hill town of Montefrio. One of the white towns (pueblos blancos) of Andalucia, Montefrio is overlooked by a great cliff, topped by a church and a moorish fort, creating one of the most picturesque sights of the Poniente Granadina region ( western of Granada ). Montefrio was the last place to be besieged by Ferdinand and Isabella in 1486 before the final retreat of the Moors from Granada. Still a relatively undiscovered part of inland Spain, the area offers an opportunity to enjoy rural Spanish life and traditions, to explore a rich historic past, plus offering easy access to bars and restaurants and shops in Granada, and the chance to visit the world famous Moorish Alhambra Palace . From Montefrio, Granada is only a 40 km drive, with Seville and Cordoba also within easy reach. Malaga and the beaches of the Costas are an hour and a quarter away by car.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rental costs range between 300 euros per week ( low season) to 1000 euros per week ( High season). High Season is 16th Dec - 5th Jan and 16th June - 16th Sept.
  • A 25% deposit is required on booking. The remainder of the cost can be paid to us in pounds sterling or euros 6 weeks before arrival, or for later bookings, paid in Euros to our manager Gerardo in Montefrio, who will meet you on arrival.
  • The swimming pool is available.

    We offer discretionary reductions for longer stays, subject to additional heating costs in winter and spring.

Notes: There is a washhouse with washing machine and ironing facilities. The property is rustic with original flags and rough surfaces. Whilst the terraces are gated (reasonably safe for all but the most adventurous toddlers), please note that the pool is unfenced and the site overall is sloping, with steep drops in places. Small children should be supervised at all times. There are three self contained terraces and two communal terraces, one with a built-in barbecue and the other under the old olive tree by the swimming pool. The views from the terraces are spectacular, overlooking the Parapanda mountain and sweeping olive groves, through to the plain of Granada and the Sierra Nevada in the far distance. You can enjoy watching many different types of birds from the terraces, and the starry night sky is spectacular. We have mains water and electricity but not waste collection. Like all rural houses you will need to take your bag of household waste to the bin at the end of our track

The Farm of the Seven Olive Trees

We've stayed at Seven Olive Trees twice now - once with family, ranging from 5 to 55 years, and once with a group of 30-something friends. Both times have been relaxing, fun and hassle free.

The layout works really well, with semi-separate accommodation meaning that there is plenty of space for time alone, but also living areas large enought to accommodate everyone at once. The terrace with it's dining table is perfect for large groups. Having four proper double rooms means it's also great for groups of couples, as there's no arguments over rooms.

Five minutes' drive away are the local town offers ample grocery shopping (as well as take away pizza!) and has a fantastic bakery. Seven Olive Trees has loads of storage and good cooking facilities over the three kitchens, plus a barbecue terrace, which makes it ideal for self catering - we've never been to a bar or restaurant in the town, so can only review the nightlife at the house, which is excellent!

When we first booked to visit the house, I thought it looked lovely from the website, and was not at all disappointed with the reality - it is bright, light and homely. We definitely plan to visit Seven Olive Trees again in the future.
