Ayamonte stands high above the river Guadiana, just across the Spanish border with Portugal. There are neatly whitewashed houses and pleasant squares to sit with a coffee and soak up the atmosphere. There is a beautiful promenade along the harbour that is lined with palm trees and the town has a daily fish market, just perfect for the BBQ.
There are many superb fish and tapas restaurants to sample, the residents are friendly and welcoming. This is a great way to experience authentic Spain.
Seviller is Andalucia's biggest and most exciting city, it lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir river and is one of the largest historical centres of Europe. It is also one of the homes of Flamenco and bullfighting and has great shopping and nightlife. Above all, Seville is an atmosphere and Sevillans most certainly know how to enjoy life.
It is just over a 1-hour drive into Seville.
