Andalusia:
The Atlantic coast of Andalusia stretches from the Portuguese border in the west to Tarifa in the south and includes the Doñana National Park and the estuary of the mighty Guadalquivir River.
The beautiful region of Andalusia stretches all the way across southern Spain from the vast, sandy, unspoilt Atlantic beaches of the Costa de la Luz in the west to the barren mountains and deserts of Almeria in the east.
This huge region is abundant with natural, scenic, cultural and historic wonders: fabulous ancient cities with magnificent palaces and castles, undiscovered remote mountain villages where time appears to have stood still, vast areas of national parks, magnificent mountain ranges and a coastline from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, much of which is still undeveloped and unspoilt.
The westernmost part of the Andalusían coast, the Costa de la Luz or the Coast of Light, borders with the Portuguese Algarve to the West. Although the coast is popular with visitors in the summer, development here is restricted and in no way compares to the urban sprawl of the Costa del Sol. Often dubbed the “Spanish Algarve”, the Costa de la Luz attracts large numbers of tourists in the summer months and is also very popular with the Spanish. The coastline is characterised by sandbars and marshy inlets making some ideal areas for sailing, boating and other water sports. Amongst the modern developments are the remnants of the old fishing communities and inland some charming market towns can be found.

The golden beaches of El Portil and Nuevo Portil are endless and simply stunning with wonderful views and if you enjoy a bit of exercise, a dedicated cycle paths runs parallel to the Ocean. The coast road has many quality restaurants, cafes and bars, some in prime positions overlooking the beach. Within easy reach are several local supermarkets and two large hypermarkets in Huelva, (20 min drive from the house). Nuevo Portil Campo De Golf hosts an excellent golf course, club house and the Cartaya Playa hotel which features an in-house Spa. El Rompido, a pretty traditional fishing village, has much to offer with a new marina, golf course and resort and several tapas bars and good quality restaurants which are open all year. For a great day out visit Ayamonte, bordering Portugal; a superb selection of shops, bars and restaurants line the winding streets and a beautiful Spanish square overlooking the harbour. Islantilla, La Antilla and Isla Cristina are within 30 min drive and a must
Golf:
A magnificent parkland golf course characterised by wide fairways and fast, smooth greens. With gentle slopes and dog legs the course provides a challenge for all standards of golfer. Splendid views of the Huelva coastline are available from many of the tees and fairways, with the extensive sand dune beaches, sea and a forest of pine and junipers providing a fantastic backdrop to your golf game. A superb club house complements this well-established course and boasts facilities such as a full spa for your after-game pampering and relaxation, swimming pool, club-cleaning service and well-appointed changing rooms. Driving range, pitch and putt green, pro shop, restaurant, cafe. The 18 hole course has three par 5s, four par 3s and eleven par 4s. It is a good walking course with some undulation and a few dog leg holes. Great views of never-ending sand dunes, beaches, ocean, and pine trees.
There are 5 great golf courses within 30 minutes drive. 5 minute drive - El Rompido, a stunning course with magnificent views over the Atlantic (It is the venue for the final of 2006 Daily Mail Competition). Nearby is Bellavista GC, which is a parkland course. 30 minute drive - Islantilla GC which is an excellent 27 hole course with a very good reputation and Isla Canella GC. 45 minute drive - Dunas de Donana, which is located on the Atlantic Ocean and next to the famous nature reserve. Also 45 minute's drive is Portugal - Benamor GC and Castro Marium GC.
