Casa Susana is a spacious 3 bedroom detached house with private pool & parking for 3 cars, in gated grounds with glorious views. Situated on the edge of Venta del Rayo, a small village near Loja (between Malaga and Granada). Here you can relax around or in the pool, enjoy a barbeque on the BBQ terrace, watch satellite television, play on the PlayStation2, enjoy the many and varied activities the area has to offer, or take a 5min stroll to the local bar/restaurant (Rafael's) for free tapas with your drinks. The house is in a rural location, but has a few neighbours, so you don't feel isolated, and is within easy reach of everything you need. The pool is fenced in, to provide safety for families with young children. This is an ideal base for many attractions. The house is only 25 minutes from Granada Airport, 50minutes from Malaga Airport and 2hrs from Seville Airport (all easy motorway routes). Venta del Rayo is located in the beautiful Sierra de Loja, and is a small sleepy village of approximately 500 inhabitants, on the old Granada to Malaga road. Casa Susana is situated on the edge of the village and looks out over stunning scenery of mountains and valleys with abundant Olive and Almond trees. The mainstay of the area is Olive and Almond farming, and sheep. The shepherd herds his sheep across the land in front of the house every day. Historic Loja is less than 10 minutes drive away and has many shops, supermarkets, clothes, shoes etc., it also has a 24 hour pharmacy and small hospital. The Sierra de Loja is well know for the Loja Crag (10 minutes from the house) for Rock climbing, and a few minutes further uphill from the Crag there are two take off points for Paragliding / hang-gliding, with a landing spot next to 'Rafael's' Bar restaurant in the village.

Notes: The house is fully fenced, so creating a safe and secure environment for families. It can accommodate 6 plus a baby in 3 bedrooms The double bedroom has a small (but very useful) en-suite consisting of toilet and sink. For entertainment there is a TV with full Satellite package, a Playstation2, a varied video and DVD library, a book library for all ages, plus puzzles and games. All Linen & Towels including Pool/beach towels are provided, so no need to bring your own. Although smoking is not actively banned, we request guests to smoke outside. Within the fenced area of the house there is a large parking area for 3 cars. The 8 x 4 metre pool is approx 4 foot in depth throughout. There are swim rings, floats, armbands, noodles etc., for fun and safety.

A Holiday Home for all Seasons:: This is a perfect location for your holiday - whatever the season: SPRING (February to April) the weather is cooler and perfect for Golf, walking, sightseeing, bird watching, and trying out the local restaurants. The blossom on the trees and the numerous wild flowers are glorious to see, as are the baby lambs skipping over the land in front of the house, with the rest of the sheep and their shepherd, remember to call out 'Hola' to the shepherd. Then curling up in the evening in the fully centrally heated house, either with a bottle of wine and a good book, or watching one of the many programmes on the full satellite package. SUMMER (May to September) For Sun Worshippers, the weather is hot for lazing by the pool sunbathing, and the pool is welcoming for cooling down. The BBQ is waiting for you to show off your skills. Long hot summers days and nights to enjoy the surroundings, or sitting outside the local bar soaking up the friendly atmosphere.

AUTUMN (October to November) the weather cools once again and its back to being perfect for Golf, walking, sightseeing, bird watching, trying out the local restaurants, and much more. The almonds are ready and you can pick yourself some almonds from our trees. WINTER (December to January) Is much the same as Spring and Autumn but a bit colder, but perfect for skiing in the Sierra Nevadas (90 mins). Autumn to Spring are the perfect time for visiting the many wonderful sights in Granada, Cordoba and Seville and the many other glorious places that may be too busy or too hot in Summer. Although places like the Donkey Sanctuary (el Refugio del burrito) in Fuente de Piedra, Antequera are always worth a visit – look out for our adopted donkey (Monty), and why not adopt one yourself. Five minutes walk from the house there is a beautiful gorge leading down to the river. Great for exploring, but wear study shoes. Tax-Free Gibraltar and Mini-Hollywood (Tabernas) are both great days out.

Fiestas:: From June to August/September there are fiestas happening somewhere in the area. Venta del Rayo has a fiesta around the weekend of 16/17 July, and another bigger one around mid August, which ends with a firework display around. Loja has several fiestas throughout the year and its main summer fiesta is the last week of August. One of the events of the fiesta is hang-gliding/Paragliding, where hang-gliders and paragliders from all over Spain and even further afield, take off from the mountain (Sierra de Loja) behind our village and land on the football field next to the village bar (Rafael's). It is a spectacular sight seeing so many paragliders / hang-gliders in the air. A fireworks spectacular marks the end of the fiesta in Loja.
