Completed in 2006, Villa Avondale has its own private pool, fully air-conditioning, and satellite TV. It has a sun terrace with beautiful mountain and sea views, and is situated in a quiet mature residential area. The villa has three bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom, a spacious lounge with dining area, main bathroom, utility room, and kitchen. Fitted out and furnished to a high standard. It is an ideal location for quiet relaxing holiday but within easy reach of all amenities. Only 10 minutes from beach, shops and restaurants. Close to Reus airport (30 minutes) with daily flights from Ireland, Germany and the UK.

The villa is situated in the peaceful, mature residential area of Las Tres Calas, so named because of its three beaches, and situated between an impressive mountain range and a rugged coastline. The nearest village is L'Ametlla de Mar, about 4km away. L'Ametlla is a typical Catalan fishing village with little narrow streets, plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants and a lovely harbour area. The whole region remains largely unspoilt by tourism, and there are no high rise buildings in the vicinity. Barcelona is 1.5 hours away, the Ebro Delta National park is 30 minutes and the Universal Studios Port Aventura Theme Park is also 30 minutes by car or train. There is a small commercial centre within walking distance with a supermarket, bakery, restaurant and a few bars. It is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the nearest beach. There are several beaches and coves within a 10 minute drive by car.

Notes: The villa is equipped to a very high standard. There is a large storage/utility room at the side of the house complete with washing machine, ironing board and clothes horse. Bed linen and towels are provided, but not poolside towels. The villa has its own private pool which can be floodlit at night. There are six sun loungers and six garden chairs, with two garden tables. There is also one cot and one high chair. There is air-conditioning in all the bedrooms and in the lounge.

Places to visit: The wonderful city of Barcelona is a must-see. There is a very good train service from L'Ametlla - fares are very good value and the journey takes about one and half hours. The Universal Studios Port Aventura Theme Park is one of the best in Europe and is 30 minutes away by train or car. There is also a waterpark adjacent to Port Aventura. The Ebro Delta National Park is world famous for its bird life and its seafood dishes. Salou is lively tourist resort, with a good selection of pubs and restaurants. If you go inland you will discover beautiful mountain drives and remote villages. Visit the caves at Benifalet, and medieval castles at Miravet and Penisacola. The next village down the coast is L'Ampolla another typically Catalan fishing village with a very pretty harbour and waterfront, and well worth a visit. The nearby cities of Tarragona and Reus have some very interesting Roman monuments. For more information don't forget to visit the tourist ofice in L'Ametlla.

How to get there: The area is well served by Barcelona and Reus airports. Reus is very handy being only 30 minutes away from the villa and Ryanair has daily flights from Ireland, UK and Germany. Car hire is readily available from both airports and easily reserved online, but remember to shop around for the best rates, as they can vary considerably.

La maison est trés agréable et conforme à son descriptif propre et moderne ; piscine et climatisation tres appréciées .l'equipement electro menager est recent et de bonne qualité.
La maison se trouve a las tres calas quartier de residences secondaires à 4 kms de l'ametlla et à 1,2 km des plages (une voiture est indispensable) non loin de l'autoroute mais aucune gene sonore .
Nous avons passé d'excellentes vacances dans cet agréable endroit , 2 couples avec ados (6 personnes au total) qui ont profité de la piscine , des tres belles plages (cala forn) et des restaurants de l'ametlla: Restaurant Pujada (10 € pas cher et bon) et Restaurant le Forum ( plus cher et mieux) .Tarragone tres belle ville vaut une visite .Bonnes vacances

Well recommended. The customer service we received before we went was second to none. Very helpful and responsive to emails and questions. The owners use themselves so good place to stay with excellent inside & outside furniture. It was clean, light and airey with good air conditioning and English TV!!! I would recommend a car, as the local shops/bars not brilliant, but Miami Playa is just a short drive away with lots of eateries and supermarkets. The pool was really clean, and maintained during our stay and wonderful to cool off in. It was nice not having to pack a big pool bag and have to trip out to a pool. Thanks for a well run holiday let!

Villa Avondale 'home from home'

We had a great week in Villa Avondale, it was very clean and brand new with all the facilities needed. The pool was a little small but warm and the size really didn't matter once you got used to it. We loved the fact the villa felt like home from home and spent lots of lovely evenings on the roof terrace overlooking the rooftops to the sea with the mountains in the background.
We enjoyed the area around L'Ametlla although its more residential than touristy.
The only thing I would not recommend was Port Aventura water park, its was the worst one I've ever been to, far too overcrowded, we had to sit on the grass as there were no seats left and all the rubber rings had been rented out so half of the rides were excluded from us.

Relaxing place to stay

We stayed at villa Avondale for 2 weeks in August 08. The owners Brod and Caroline were very helpful from the moment i booked (back in Jan 09). Martin and Sarah who look after the villa in Spain were also very helpful and on hand if required. The villa itself is very modern and clean and it is located in a very quiet peaceful residential area which helped towards a relaxing holiday. We all loved the pool and enjoyed many a relaxing sun soaked day unwinding at the poolside. It is only a few mins drive to the 3 beaches (las Tres Calas) and about a 10 minute drive to the nearest town which contains everything one would need when staying at the villa. What we also liked was that it was away from the hustle and bustle of Salou but at the same time it was a good base to explore the area with Portaventura only 30 mins away by car and Barcelona 1hr 50 mins by train (station 10 mins by car). Thanks again for letting us use your villa...would certainly recommend it to friends...James and family.
