Situated just south of the popular beach resort of Sitges and close from Barcelona, this remarkable villa is a rare example of “Neo mudejar” architecture.

Built in 1890 this historic villa and grounds have been restored to their original glory but with all modern comforts now included to make this a truly perfect retreat.

The gardens are as stunning as the house itself, as the villa is surrounded by 2 hectares of established gardens with a wide variety of plants and trees, a large and private swimming pool (12m by 7m), a tennis court, an ornate fish pond, a children’s park and a large BBQ area. The high wall surrounding the property offers complete privacy and there are changing rooms and showers by the pool.

Clients have the choice of a quiet tranquil holiday enjoying all the facilities on offer or to venture out to the popular resort of Sitges or to the vibrant City of Barcelona.

The town of Vilanova is just down the road from its more famours neighbour, Sitges, and has charm enough of its own with it old town centre and modernist buildings, as well as having two beaches either side of the Port. Having Sitges so close (a 10 minute drive) is an advantage as Sitges has its own charm. There is a station in Vilanova which connect s you directly to Barcelona for day trips (this also stop in Sitges) and there are a whole range of restaurants and bars and, of course a lot more in Sitges which is itself somewhat famous for its nightlife.

The seafront restaurants in Vilanova are to be recommended for the seafood as Vilanova is a sea fishing port. The market is also full of fresh fruit and vegetables and fish of course

  • All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Some have jacuzzi type baths, others baths and some with showers. All are colour themed to compliment each bedroom and most are very spacious. My favourite bathroom is in Curcuma suite with large patio doors opening to the terrace, a large circular bath and marble sink in-laid with fossils. The shower block in the grounds has 2 sets of communal showers, toilets and disabled facilities.

  • The main villa is set on 3 floors (there is a lift as well as the ornate staircase) with 9 distinctive bedrooms en suites, a music room, a bar/salon, games room, dining room and a large fully equipped kitchen. There are 4 double bedrooms on the third floor, all en –suite, three with Jacuzzi baths, and the master bedroom has a private reception (which could be used as a child room), a satellite TV and music system Band and Olufsen. On the second floor there are a further 4 double bedrooms (one with a sitting room or children bedroom), all of which have access to the private terrace, and are all en- suite, again 3 of these with Jacuzzi baths. The fourth bedroom is more compact than the others and has a shower only in the bathroom. On the ground floor there is another double bedroom with en suite bathroom. Other facilities include a private swimming pool, a full size tennis court, table tennis and a pool table in the games room.

Notes: On the ground floor there is the breathtaking entrance hall, the extensive lounge, a grand dining room with antique dining table and long windows. There is also a games room with a pool table and music system. The kitchen which has all possible amenities with access to the covered porch and seating areas for dining al fresco. The bodega was the original building in the grounds where wine was made. It is now the Conference room or events room suitable for weddings, filming, photo shoots and private functions. In addition, we have a shower block that serve as changing rooms for the pool or for toilet facilities for large groups. Please note that when you rent the house it is completely private to you and your guests.

Can Xicaro is a jewel in a desert! Once inside the gates we were in a world of our own with just about every whim catered for !
At the end of May, 2008, we spent a delightful family week there. For the fifteen of us varying from three to seventy years there was
something for everyone; we all loved the pool, and a family knock out tennis tournament was the highlight for one grandson;
the gym equipment was a great attraction for others, and each evening the pool table was in use.
Music and books in abundance; television if you really wanted it; a range of beautiful rooms and object d'art - and a special meal
prepared for us by John Duffy himself for the family birthday we were celebrating.
A holiday we will always remember.

Holy communion

A perfect day. It was a beautiful day so we COULD enjoy the villa and the
grounds. Everything was perfectly prepared as agreed when we arrived. Once
more Cal Blay provided an excellent catering service and we were very
satisfied. Our valuation, as well as our guests’ one, is very positive.
Some of them have asked us Can Xicarró contact details to organize future
events there.
