Paradise found

Date of Stay: April 2010
I couldn't recommend Gin Ganga more highly.
It's a villa but it's also like your own private resort.
From the moment you wake up you are looked after by kind and considerate staff.
Due to the Iceland ash cloud our stay in April 2010 was extended from two weeks to four, and I couldn't think of a better place to be "stuck".
Ajith and his team make your holiday an easy pleasure; they cook and serve delicious meals, shop for your food each day at the local markets, drive you wherever you need to go, change your currency at rates reserved for locals, and bring you drinks by the poolside.
A special pleasure is the enormous garden brimming with wildlife. The property is so large we assumed it must be out in the countryside but in actual fact it's right in Galle, only minutes from the town centre.
The property is bordered on three sides by a bend in a big river just before it arrives at the sea, a truly stunning location.
We were slightly worried about letting our toddlers wander around too freely with so much water around but there are so many staff always keeping a watchful eye out that we quickly learned to relax.
Back in London we already miss Gin Ganga's food, staff, pool, monkeys, water monitors, mongoose, kingfishers, giant air-conditioned bedrooms and booming tropical storms at the beginning of the monsoon season.
If you're going to Galle, go to Gin Ganga. You will be glad you did.
