This luxury 2 room open-plan apartment, with lift,is on the 2nd floor of the Chalet Rosat, situated in the picturesque alpine village of Chateau d'Oex. The open-plan accommodation comprises a living room with 2 double sofas and new sat/ TV (October2008). The living/ kitchen area is divided from the bedroom area by a wall and open archway. French doors open onto a full length balcony (12 m2), which is sunny in the afternoon and ideal for sunbathing and alfresco dining. A patio table, 4 chairs and sun lounger are provided in summer. There is a lift to all floors. The apartment has underfloor central heating throughout. For relaxation, guests enjoy the use of a modern indoor heated swimming pool with jet stream, sauna/steam room, and a gym. There is also a comfortable bar and lounge area with card tables and board games and a small library and Wi-Fi Zone for laptop users. There is a laundry room with washers and driers and a ski room.

Château d'Oex is a delightful traditional village, with many amenities, in the French speaking part of Switzerland. The village and surrounding area provides a range of year-round recreational, sporting and cultural activities. It is part of the Gstaad Super Ski region and is also famous for hot-air ballooning. There is a cable car to the local ski area and skiing in all the neighbouring villages. Cable cars are open in summer and there is a well marked network of walking trails. With its location on the MOB railway line Château d'Oex, is ideally located for sightseeing - the towns of Montreux and Lausanne on the shores of Lake Geneva are easily reached; as are Chillon and Aigle castles. The medieval village and Château of Gruyere is closeby. Fashionable Gstaad is only 20min away by road or rail.The area can be explored using regional travel passes which offer several days unlimited travel by rail, bus and lake steamer, and reductions on cable cars throughout the region.

Notes to the rental rates

  • THE RENTAL RATE is based on 2 people sharing the apartment.
    THE RATE INCLUDES use of all recreational facilities (pool, sauna, gym etc) ski room. Central Heating, hot water and electricity.
    THE RATE DOES NOT INCLUDE: End of Rental Cleaning (100 Sfr)
    This separate charge is payable to the rental manager at the end of your stay.
    SHORT STAYS. A charge of £35 is added to the total cost of your stay.
    A REFUNDABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT of 200 Sfr is payable to the rental manager on arrival.
    This will be returned after a satisfactory inspection by our manager.
  • The single bedroom twin bedded apartment is ideally suited for 2.
    For each extra guest there is an additional charge of £25 per person per week.
    The apartment is not suitable for letting to parties of 4 adults or couples with 2 older children.
  • £100 deposit at time of booking and balance payable four weeks prior to arrival.

ASPECT

The large full-length balcony is NW facing. It catches full-sun from mid-afternoon to early evening (depending on season). In summer we use it for sunbathing (2 loungers provided) and alfresco dining (patio table & 4 chairs).

STOP PRESS

Winter 2008/9 Free Ski bus service operates during holidays , at weekends and on Wednesday afternoons. Bus stop outside the Rosat and links to the Ski lifts stations in Chateau d'Oex and Gerignoz. Winter 2008/9: ski pass is now free for children under 9 for all of the Gstaad super ski region - including Chateau d'Oex! Summer 2009: children under 9 travel free on all chairlifts and Cablecars. There are 10 lifts in operation this summer. There is a new Alpine roller-coaster/bob-sleigh ride at Glacier 3000, open all year. A unique walking guide for this superb walking area is provided for our guests. This guide has been written by us and contains walks using the lift systems ,post bus, and walks from our chalet door!!

Other Activities river rafting, cross country skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing, winter walking. Extensive summer walking & hiking; climbing and 'via ferrata'.

Skiing Information:

Chateaux d'Oex has more of a genuine small town feeling about it than many ski resorts. For many skiers, this is a good choice, being close to its more famous neighbour Gstaad, and a part of the Gstaad Superski region The train which links these resorts will be a memorable part of your holiday. Chateaux d'Oex itself is not a 'ski till you collapse' resort. It is pleasant and forgiving, ideal for the average recreational skier or family. The slopes are reached by cable car from the village to La Braye, skiable to 1,800m, where you can enjoy the gentle skiing nearby served by 10 lifts. However Chateau d’Oex is a dynamite location for all skiers. You are only a few minutes by an efficient train service from the Gstaad Superski region which caters for all levels of skier with 130 lifts and up to 450km of prepared slopes at your disposal - including Glacier 3000 at Les Diablerets- available on a single ski pass. NOTE: SKI PASS IS FREE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 9. Ski school is available locally.

Keeping it short, this apartment is an absolute gem.
Fully equipped home away from home. Everything to make a sandwich or a gourmet meal. Apartment compact but comfy and cosy. From the balcony, a bubbling brook.
The Owners and Managers are extremely organised and willing to assist, to ensure your vacation is everything you hope it will be.
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but suits us to a tee. Quiet location, no nightlife so good for a chilled out holiday with lots of fabulous and typical Swiss scenery and friendliness. Offers everything from good value for money Chateau D'oex to tres expensif Gstaad, a short train ride away. No need for a car, as their are plenty alternatives for getting around.
All in all .................... you make up your own mind!
