Given a five star rating by the Saas Fee Tourist Office, this privately owned, newly built penthouse apartment is modern, spacious and stylish. It is only two minutes walk from the centre of the village, and eight minutes walk from the nursery slopes/ski lifts. The large sunny balcony has stunning views across the mountain range, glacier and nursery slope. The apartment has been furnished to a high standard and the impressive sitting room with dining area has an open log fire, flat screen TV,DVD & CD player. There is also high speed internet access. There are three bedrooms, one double (which has an incredible view) and two twins. One of the twins is en-suite and there is an additional bathroom for the other two rooms. There is a lift which has exclusive direct private access to inside the apartment. Located in the basement is a superb Wellness Centre. This has a fully equipped gym, two saunas, a steam room, jacuzzi and plunge pool and massage service on request.

Saas Fee is a car free glacier village. It lies on a high plateau 1800 metres above sea level, at the foot of the highest Swiss mountains, the Mischabel chain. As it is so high, there is guaranteed snow during the winter season and glacier skiing all year round. It is a very pretty village with lots of character and traditional charm. There are over 100 km of ski slopes, snowboard parks, 30 km of hiking trails and one of the longest toboggan runs in the world. Traveling to Saas Fee is straightforward and there are a number of options. Apart from the ferry/driving through France route, there are also a number of direct flights to Geneva or Zurich from the UK. There are good rail connections from the airports to Visp, the nearest major town and then a short bus journey up the mountain to Saas Fee itself. There is also car hire available at the airport and parking at the top of the village. Luggage can be transferred to the apartment in electric taxis.

Saas Fee - known as the 'Pearl of the Alps': Aptly named, Saas Fee does have a magical quality for this village is brimming with character and Swiss charm, with its delightful restaurants tucked away in the woods and traditional shops on the car free cobblestoned streets. A romantic getaway and a great family resort with a huge range of activities that you can do in both Summer and Winter. Apart from the skiing which can be enjoyed all year round, you can take the cable car up to Hannig and sledge down a 5km run, day and night! There is a bob sleigh track on the mountain side, husky rides, an outdoor ice skating rink, mountain biking, ice climbing, zip wire across the gorge, bungy trampolining, an Olympic size swimming pool and children's pool with slide. There are over 30kms of hiking trails, 100kms of ski slopes, cross country trails and a snowboard park which has 10 foot walls of ice - the famous Half Pipe. The nursery slopes are ideal for beginners with a special fun snow park for young children and a first class ski school

Beautiful location; limited spa

My family enjoyed an excellent week at this apartment which is in a beautiful location with fantastic views. The quality of everything in the apartment was very good and the village of Saas Fee provides a very relaxing atmosphere with no cars allowed. There are many scenic hiking trails in the area and we had a great time with activities such as monster scooters and the Adventure Forest. The only disappointment is that the limitations of the spa in the building were not made clear before we arrived. This facility was only open from 4-8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and the jacuzzi was empty during the entire week of our stay. This really should be made clear in the apartment's description since it is highlighted as a main feature of this apartment.
Owner's Response: The spa is available every day during the high and mid season from 4pm - 9.30pm. On occasion during the low season or when it is quiet, the saunas and steam room will only be switched on by request. All guests staying at Chateau can use the spa facility every day. If the equipment is not on and they wish to use it, they simply need to contact Lise who lives in Apartment 13. It was unfortunate but the jacuzzi was broken during this particular week. The system has been replaced and is now working normally.
