Places to holiday in Switzerland

Bernese Oberland is a major skiing destination, with 9 world-class destinations high in the Alps. It is spectacularly beautiful, and the walking in the summer is un-rivalled, with clear air, snow capped mountains lush hills and jagged rocks.

Valais, one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland is a fascinating land of mountains; ripe for skiing, climbing and downhill biking, as well as fabulous golf, white water rafting, paragliding and bungee jumping in the summer. There is plenty to entertain a family staying in Valais rental accommodation.

Lake Geneva is considered to be a showcase for all things Swiss. Snowy mountains, vineyards, castles, cathedrals, the lake itself and bustling nightlife can all be enjoyed from a city break to Geneva.

Weather in Switzerland

Summer is warm, lasting from June to September, with average temperatures peaking at around 25°C in July, the busiest tourist period. Switzerland’s ski resorts open in mid-November and remain open until April. Winter temperatures can dip as low as -3°C in the mountains during the winter, but average temperatures are around 2°C during the coldest months.
