Superb ski in/ski out Swiss apartment in Portes du Soleil with fabulous views

The apartment is nothing short of superb and the photos you see on the website are exactly what you get. Beautifully furnished and with a view to die for. I can guarantee that every morning you will sit on the balcony with a coffee and a fresh croissant from the nearby shop (open every day for all of the basic requirements) and marvel at the view.

The village of Les Croset provides restaurants if you want to eat out and there are some gems in the surrounding area and down in Champery. Our personal favourite was the Cantine sur Coux.

With the ski lifts running (they begin to run down in early September) you can buy the brilliant value Multipass for 1.5CHF per day per person for unlimited travel in the Portes du Soleil. And that means a lot of places to visit. Take a trip to the top of any of the adjacent peaks and amble down at ease or walk until you drop and then ride back in comfort. The range of walks, long, short, difficult and easy means there is something for everyone.

And, if you like mountain biking, and particularly if that involves throwing yourself down steep slopes then i reckon this is, quite literally, the only place you want to be.

And the beauty of it all is that from the apartment to the lifts is a five minute walk - perfect.

If you want to get in your car the drive down to Champery and more significant services in Monthey is fast and painless. there a good supermaket in Champery and a huge Co-Op on you way through Monthey that provides for everything you might want.

Touring around by car is easy, with access to the motorways close by to get to Lake Geneva and into the higher mountains to the east. So in the unlikely event you want a change of scene its easy.

In short - superb.

The picture of dents du midi mountains in the property spec was a big factor in our choice and we were not disappointed. Sitting on the balcony with a drink with this stunning view was a great way to end the day. The apt has plenty of space, and is very well maintained and equipped. The concierge is the most helpful and delightful person. You can walk straight from the door on some beautiful paths, or use the chairlift system a few minutes walk away to go over to france. We spent several days just riding the network of chairlifts and gondolas into the surrounding mountains and valleys - the summer multi pass at 1.5 euros per day is an absolute bargain. An outstanding holiday.

First time in my life when everything was even better than I hoped:
1. the location of the apartment building - quiet, away from the centre of the village and being the first building on the motoway in Les Crosets;
2. the apartment itself - comfortable, convenient with all the windows facing the mountains, the sunrise and sunset with NO ONE pasing by;
3. real ski in-ski out - my son never used the entrance door, but only the balcony;
4. all modern facilities - absolutely everything you need including really fast Internet connection;
5. marvelous place - good for everyone from 0 up to 99 with slopes of all categories.

I am trying to remember something negative to provide an unbiased review...but I can't. I wish I could go there again!
