Skiing, Boarding and Winter sports:
Ovronnaz is a winter sports resort, for sports enthuiasts and also those who just love to be in the mountains on a sunny winter's day. You can ski and snowboard on wonderfully scenic slopes, cross-country ski on high Alpine tracks, snow show through the woods or walk through a very scenic village. Ovronnaz has 2 ski schools both located in the village centre offering skiing and snowboarding lessons. Hire shops are located nearby. The beginners' slope is right in the centre of the village, conveniently located for the local bars and restaurants so non-skiing adults can watch progress but escape for a 'vin chaud' as well. After the first few days, beginners can move on to the higher slopes, reached by chair lift. The main restaurant for the slopes is located right by the top of the chairlift and is easily accessible to non-skiers and skiers alike. The cross country ski tracks are within walking distance of our chalet, as are the winter walking and snow-shoe trails
Thermalalp – Thermal and Wellness Spa:
The Swiss really understand how to make folks relax - put them in a beautiful mountain environment and let them look around! In Ovronnaz, you can do this whilst you relax in the themal pools, open all year round. In winter, OVronnaz is unique. When you buy your lift pass, you can chose to include entry to the thermal spa and pools – and at the end of a hard day on the pistes, lie back in one of the 3 naturally heated pools, indoor and out, enjoying the crystal clear views to the mountains all around. Unlike most “spa” resorts, Ovronnaz attracts a young and family clientele. Kids will adore the outdoor pools – naturally heated to 34-36°. As well as the Jacuzzi’s, whirlpools and water jets, the centre also offers a fantastic range of health and beauty therapies – early booking advisable. The thermal centre is open all year round which means the village is always inviting and hospitable, no matter what month you visit. (And, no – the water isn’t smelly and you don’t drink it
Relaxation, summer sun, sports, wine and weddings!:
My favourite comment from a guest was: 'The view at dawn from the sun room of the chalet over the surrounding Alps was so amazing we had to get up early every morning to watch.' You could gaze at the mountains all day but then you would miss the walking, mountain sports and boundless other attractions. Take a mountain railway through the Alps to Chamonix or Zermatt. Children will love the thrill of real mountain adventure playgrounds which are found in the surrounding resorts. Wine-lovers will enjoy being right in the centre of the Swiss wine-growing region with it’s many opportunities for a “dégustation de vins ”! Mountain biking enthusiasts will find more than 50 kms of trails set in stunning scenery. Or simply wander the slopes around the chalet, enjoying glorious views over glaciers, mountains and valleys, enjoying nature at its best. We are very proud that some guests who had decided to marry in Switzerland recently, held their reception on our terrace - a first for us!
