Surprises, surprises!

This very nice villa offers a lot of security and privacy. There is a guard on duty in the street and the villa is surrounded by a high wall. Nobody can see you, you can't see anybody. The garden and pool are also very nice. But the sofas in the sitting room are worn and stained (dining set is nice), the beds are hard, the stained tiles of the floor should be treated, one aircon was leaking water on the bed. The VIP-car that we reserved via the owner did'nt show up at Bangkok airport (we waited for 2 hours). Electricity was not fully included: 57 units were free, more units were charged. That meant that we could use lamps and AC in 2 bedrooms between about 8 PM and 10 AM (so not during day time!) without extra payment. Remember, Thailand is situated in the tropics! That meant that during daytime it was much too hot to stay in the house or in the walled windless garden (we stayed there in the "cool" winter time). So you want to go to the beach to get some wind and cooler air. However the villa is far from everything, from the beach, shops, restaurants, attractions etc. That means that you really need a car (left hand driving). Although a car is promised in the Home Away advertisement (see "outside"), there is no car available. Calling for a "taxi" (open air mini bus) is an option, but expensive, unfree and unpractical. Car rentals are not expensive. We paid 1000 Baht per day with a deposit of 5000 Baht at a rental car office. Car was not fully insured, so we had to be very careful. In the Home Away advertisement a daily maid service is promised, but we had service only every other day (making beds, removal of garbage, clean towels). There is no directory in the house with addresses of (nearby?) restaurants, local activities, attractions and services as mentioned in the Home Away advertisement. We asked owner Paul for information by email, but we didn't get any answer (we heard he had a fever) and his wife Lee dropped her telephone in their pool, as she told us. No no, we are not coming back.
Owner's Response: We thank you for your comments both negative and positive as this only helps us to improve our service, we also appreciate that your comments state that the Villa and pool are very nice and give total privacy and security. The sofa which has recently been recovered was indeed a little worn, the aircon which was only brought to our attention by the next guest was fixed on that same day. We are very sorry about the airport transfer, our driver assured us he was at the airport, usually this never happens. When booking the villa you was also fully aware that their was an electric allowance which is clearly stated in our terms and conditions which must be read and a box ticked before a booking is made. Most customers including yourself do not go over the 400 units per week (57 units per day) allowance. Nowhere is a car promised as the advert clearly again states that "car hire is also available at very reasonable rates." Sorry that you feel misinformed by the daily maid service but the Holiday rentals advert only gives a choice of one box to tick that is daily maid service, we do supply a maid service which is every other day when clean towels are provided. We have now made an extra note under the facilities and activities for any future guests to read. With regards to the villa location it is in fact one of the closest properties to Pattaya centre, with taxi charging just 200 baht into town, which you feel is expensive but many other customers are happy to pay. We always have many leaflets in the villa with regards to attractions and activities and arrange many days out for our satisfied customers.
