We work closely with a local car hire company who are reliable and have good rental rates. Airport transfer can be arranged if you do not want to hire a car. Please ask for details.
Before your holiday, you will receive a travel pack with information including directions from the airport, collection of villa keys etc. A guest manual is provided at the house with ideas of where to go out, where to shop, where to eat, local maps & excursions.
Local transport & grocery shopping: To get the most out of your holiday, we do recommend car hire but if you decide not to hire a car, the local dolmus service runs past the villa and taxis are plentiful in the towns & villages. You can get to Gumusluk very easily on the dolmus bus then change here to continue onto Turgetreis & Bodrum. In the other direction from our house, you can travel into Yalikavak (with usually 1 change of dolums on the way at Gumuskaya). From Yalikavak, you can catch a dolmus to visit other towns on the Peninsula. Next to the dolmus stop near our villa is also a small taxi rank.
In May 2011, a new Migros supermarket opened within walking distance from our house. You can purchase all the groceries here that you will need for your stay. There is a large fruit and vegetable section, chilled and frozen foods, fresh bread, dried products such as cereals, tins & packets. You can also buy alcoholic/ non-alcoholic drinks as well as all toiletries, cleaning products and outdoor inflatables for the pool
Things to do and places to visit: There is so much to do in this area! History lovers should take a visit to St Peter’s Castle, Bodrum to view the underwater archaeology museum or arrange a trip to Ephesus, the largest & best preserved ancient city in Turkey. A visit to Pammukale means that you can combine the hot thermal springs of this white, calcium terraced mountain with the adjacent ancient site of Hierpolis. Another day out is a visit the mud baths & stunning beaches at Dalyan combined with seeing the Lycian rock tombs & the remains of Caunos, dating back to 400 century B.C. Daily boat trips to Kos, Greece means that you can visit 2 countries during 1 holiday. Closer to home, make time to experience the different towns and villages on the Peninsula. Turgetreis is the 2nd largest town & has a huge market each Saturday. Chill-out on the beach in the laid back bays of Bitez or Ortakent or visit Golturkbuku – known as the St Tropez of the Bodrum Peninsula. For family fun visit the water park or bowling in Bodrum.
