Villa Sofia, Kalkan, June-July 2010
Review Submitted: July 30, 2010
Date of Stay: June 2010
Villa Sofia is a large villa with five, good sized, air conditioned bedrooms (one en-suite) plus two further bathrooms and a fourth loo. A fantastic roof terrace faces south with views right out across Kalkan and over the bay – overlooking, but not overlooked – this has to be one of the best! The beautiful large swimming pool is much more private than most other villas and is impeccably maintained every morning.
Situation. Within easy (and safe and friendly) walking distance of the town, restaurants, harbour and beach. It’s uphill back but, although there are plenty of taxis, we never took one back after our evening restaurant meals, preferring to use up a few calories instead. The restaurants, by the way, are superb and the choice! Cheaper at the top of town but some extremely good buys. Particularly recommend Deniz Restaurant at the far end of the harbour - fish specialists, generous attitude and a wonderful position.
We hired a car for our three weeks stay and found lots of bays, aqueducts, totally deserted ancient cities and, with the help of our snorkels, met everything from friendly little groupers to barracuda and squid.
We (two parents, two teenage boys and two older girls) almost never have more than one holiday in the same place. But after our wonderful experiences of Villa Sofia, Kalkan and Lycia last year, we not only went back again this year… we’ve booked again for next!
