A proper Turkish Village setting

The Villa is perfectly situated 2 minutes from the square
and the village itself is years behind the times which made it even more attractive. The bakery made and sold fresh bread every day and the market is literally outside the front gate every Friday, which is very convenient for fruit and veg but the whole road is blocked so make sure you get your car out on Thursday night if you intend to use it on Friday! The locals were freindly and helpful without being invasive and the older generation were particularly welcoming and their very simple lives soon had us all living at their pace. Donkeys and cattle kept on the ground floors of houses that had no right to be standing it truly is a different way of life.
The Villa was spacious and comfortable but did lack a few "nice touches" There were only 5 of us and there wasn't a huge choice of drinking glasses and we needed to purchase a bread knife and ice trays. The welcome book needed a few more details on the surrounding area. Saklikent Gorge is amazing but the book didn't do it justice nor did it tell you you would be wading through thigh high freezing cold spring water and clambering over boulders, which was fantastic fun and highly recommended but more advanced detail would have been nice. For a Villa that sleeps 8 there were 6 sun beds and the Patio table struggled to seat the 5 of us. The pool was great and a sensible depth of about 5 feet throughout, although the kids cursed the rose bushes in the garden that brought a premature end to the lives of a few inflatable animals!
Turkey is great value for money which meant that we could eat out and relax when our three "hollow legged" teenagers scoured the menu for new eating experiances.
Definately a place to re-visit and a fairly short flight.
Owner's Response: Having stayed at the villa ourselves a few weeks prior to these guests we were extremely distressed to read about items missing from the kitchen. Glasses were present in several sets in lead crystal and plain glass suitable for wine, spirits and long drinks. All guests are provided with contact numbers for our property Management Company, who visit daily for pool maintenance, and also home and mobile telephone numbers for direct owner contact in the UK. It would have been so much easier if we had received a call and these articles could have been easily replaced, or in fact found as they may have been in the villa. We were unable to rectify the problem as we were not informed, and only read of the problems in a review several weeks after our customer’s holiday had ended. We would have liked and appreciated the opportunity to rectify the problem at the time.
As we own 2 villas which are next to each other sun beds have never been an issue and in three years of renting our property have never previously had complaints. We are really puzzled to find negative comments from this family who had been provided with six beds for five guests. A cot and high chair are also shared and moved to each villa on a needs basis.
Other families have regularly commented positively about the supporting information provided at the villa for their holiday. This information is also posted to the customer before their holiday to allow guests the opportunity to research their own additional information prior to departure. Turkish tourist information is available from a multitude of websites and books are available at Waterstones and W.H.Smiths.
