More about South East Asia

Make a holiday rental, home or apartment in South East Asia your home away from home

South East Asia is the geographical region south of China, east of India and north of Australia. The South East Asian mainland consists of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, and the islands of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. Taking a South East Asia holiday rental will, in my opinion, be the start of one of the most exciting and exhilarating holiday experiences on the globe. The countries of South East Asia, whilst having a range of similarities, are hugely different, each offering incredible sights and unique activities.

Places to holiday in South East Asia

Indonesia consists of over 13,000 islands, only 1,500 having been named so far. The most popular, most inhabited and most culturally significant islands of Indonesia are Java, Bali and Sumatra.

The Royal Kingdom of Thailand is the most visited country of South East Asia. Its historic culture, lively people, stunning beaches, excellent transport networks and magnificent nightlife have really opened up Thailand to the western traveller. The northern districts of Thailand are natural areas, where fabulous trekking allows you to discover the hill tribes and culture of northern Thailand. Chiang Mai has become a hub of Thai culture, specialising in cuisine, massage, meditation, silversmithing and even elephant training! The famed beaches of Thailand are in the south. The beaches of Koh Tao and Phuket have gained global recognition, and although some have become touristy, the majority remain quiet. Bangkok and Phuket have emerged as Thailand’s most popular destinations.

The Philippines are a collection of thousands of islands, and hundreds of cultures. It is known affectionately as the ‘smile of Asia’ due to the incredible hospitality of the locals. There is a beach to suit every holiday maker, and the capitol Manila has become a tough but charming cosmopolitan city.

Malaysia is a rapidly growing fusion of cultures, with the commercial centre of Kuala Lumpur shining under the massive monuments of the Pretronas Twin Towers and the BT tower. The jungle train going north east takes you to the Malaysian coast, where the islands are paradise, and the scuba diving is incomparable.
