Rhyd-y-Bont cottage nestles in a sheltered hollow amongst an area of tiny fields. It is 100m from the estuary from Cymyran straits to Four Mile Bridge , the sea between Holy Island and Anglesey. The surrounding fields offer shores to explore that vary from rocky cliffs to sandy banks and muddy areas with crops of samphire. In the fields you will find great banks of gorse, foxgloves raged robin and orchids. The marsh area nearby is popular with curlews,lapwings ,oyster catchers and little egrets. A 3km drive down the road to Rhoscolyn gives you access to Silver Bay. This is one of the most delightful beaches of Anglesey, it has no public access by road, a clean beach award, and you can launch a boat into the open sea. On the mainland of Anglesey on the coast North of Rhosneigr is the military training airport and Air sea rescue base of Valley. most of the aircraft using the base are Hawk trainers, so the noise disturbance is limited.

Rhyd-y-Bont cottage is on Bodior farm. This farm occupies the south east corner of Holyhead Island. Although it is only 5Km from the motorway as you cross the bridge from Anglesey you enter a world of High flower covered earth banks, trees sculptured by the wind, and tiny fields with great rocks rising out of them. The area is all defined as an AONB, and the farm is managed as an environmentally sensitive area. There are several RSPB reserves in the area.

Notes: ACCESS STATEMENT The cottage is accessed by a 250 metre long, stone surface track off the road from Four Mile Bridge to Rhoscolyn. If the gate is closed when you arrive then please keep it closed as stock will be in the fields. The cottage is surrounded by 20 acres of grass farm land , rock outcrops and gorse, to which you have free access. Four cars can be parked on a gravel car park adjacent to the property and a paved access ,15 metres long and suitable for wheel chairs , leads to the front door. The cottage garden is relatively flat and is securely fenced There is a 200mm step through the front door but a ramp is available if required. The ground floor is on one level in oak flooring, slate tiles or carpet. There is a 100mm step into the ground floor shower cubicle. A shower chair is available. The first floor is accessed by an oak staircase and is not suitable for wheelchair access. You will require evidence of insurance if you wish to launch boats from Silver Bay.

Bird watching: The property is on the edge of the tidal area of the Cymyran straits which offers a varied habitat for many kinds of birds. The fourth picture shows a view of the area from the top of a rock about 300 m from the property. There are several RSPB reseves in the area. On the mainland of Anglesey on the coast North of Rhosneigr is the military training airport and Air sea rescue base of Valley. Most of the aircraft using the base are Hawk trainers, so the noise disturbance is limited.

Boating: The straits offer an excellent area of sheltered water at high tide, but at low water even the chanel is shallow enough to walk accross in places. At high water neaps the area near the cottage is shallow and you must go further down the straits. You will have launching facilities into the open sea at Silver Bay.

Walking: The cottage is on the Anglesey coastal footpath. Some of the best parts of the whole circuit of the island are nearby, Rhoscolyn has been described as the jewel in the crown of Anglesey.

Golf: The property is 5 minutes drive from Treaddur Bay golf club. All the Anglesey Golf clubs are within easy driving distance

We spent our Christmas Holiday 2008 here.
the accomodation is Superb ,Cean, Great Location, Very Spaceous &Very Well Maintened.. all you have to supply is your food & your logs,for the great fire which is the focal point in the great big sitting room
if you want a great get away from it all break this is the place for you and your family.
Silver Bay is only 1.5 miles away and what a beach is.
the local pub the White Eagle offers first class food & a fine selections of real ales.. i would rate this a five star holiday location ..
