The house is by the sea at Newport Parrog (harbour) in the Pembrokeshire National Park. It is by the Coastal Footpath about 15 minutes walk from the centre of Newport. Newport is an ancient borough in the heart of the National Park set between the Preseli Hills and the sea. There are a variety of useful shops as well as galleries and restaurants. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. There are walks in all directions - to Dinas Head one way, round the estuary the other (good for bird watching) or up onto the Preseli hills. By car the whole of the Pembrokeshire peninsula is within easy reach. Boats to the islands off the coast are great fun - try Puffin watching on Skomer. Visit Pentre Ifan, the largest group of standing stones in Wales, to be found on the hills overlooking Newport. In the house you will find an information binder and also brochures and leaflets. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has some of the most beautiful coastline in Europe

A romantic getaway
Patrick and Marilyn , Port Charlotte, Florida, USA
Review Submitted: January 17, 2008, Date of stay: December, 2007
My wife and I spent an all-too-short week at ErwWen - it was one of the most pleasant times we have had together. The pictures and description don't do it or the location any justice. I understood it was close to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path but its literally a 2 minute walk to the picturesque Parrog (which is a sort of harbour I believe) and a truly delightful 15minute walk along the estuary to the village. We enjoyed walking in for a paper every morning and the ever-changing state of the tide in the estuary, the sea-birds and quaint little village's day-to-day everyday life and quiet coffee shops were something special. The coastal path provides an easy walk to and past the village to the East and a more strenuous and very rewarding walk along the cliff tops to the West where thoughtfully placed seats abound looking over delightful coves. All very peaceful.
The owners have recently added a huge room with sea views all along the back of the house. We ate all our meals with surfable waves rolling in across the beach in the distance and allways that sound of the sea... gulls and waves.
The accomodation was very adequate for a large family or separate families. Just the two of us and a part-time visitor (my son) rattled around in its corridors. The modern power showers and the ancient AGA cooker were highspots. Nothing like fresh locally (water)milled and baked wholemeal loaves toasted on the AGA for breakfast. I fell in love with the glass-doored wood-burning stove (we were there in a chilly December) - easy to light and aromatic with logs from the local garage.
We'll be back if we can (we live in Florida). A wonderful retreat from everyday life with plenty to do within walking distance or further afield with a car - we were averaging 2 castles a day (the wife is from the USA). Good reasonably priced food in the village and a peaceful walk home under the stars - bring a flashlight!
I wish we lived here.
