Agres is a typical small mountain village with a well-preserved centre. The Franciscan Convent has a legend about a picture of the Virgin Mary which was destroyed by fire reappearing miraculously. It is close to the Sierra de Mariola and has a population of just 650. Holiday rentals in Agres are well situated for exploring the coast or the small villages further inland.

The town prospered during the Industrial Revolution and has some grand architecture and magnificent houses built for the wealthy families. Aigues is 64 km south and is a famous spa resort with bath houses. The Moorish tower there is also worth seeing. The Sierra Mariola National Park is a real taste of Spain with small walled towns and castles.

There are many budget airlines serving it including easyJet, Flybe, BmiBaby, Ryanair, Jet2 and Thomson Airways making it a cheap and easy destination to get to. Alternatively fly into Valencia (VLC) Airport and drive south 101km to your Agres holiday home. A car is essential for exploring the local area and a hire car can be picked up from the airport.
