There are many beautiful sights to behold in Alba. The historical centre is a true marvel, encased by thick, defensive walls. The core of the village, the 15th century Cathedral in Piazza Risorgimento, cannot be missed on any Alba holiday, and there are many beautiful religious buildings to explore in and around the centre of Alba.
Alba is a food and wine connoisseurs dream. Although Alba is primarily known for its truffles and the huge Alba Truffle Festival in October, white truffle month, food in general is highly prized in Alba. The food market by the River Tanaro draws chefs from across Piedmont and indeed much of Italy for their fresh produce, and the restaurants of the town serve dishes that you could only dream of at home, from quail risotto to true pasta asciutta. Those with even a fleeting interest in wines to real sommeliers will be spoilt for choice in wines from self catering accommodation in Alba either.
Apart from during the months of October and November, the hills of the Langhe Mountains are free from truffle hunters and perfect for walking and riding. There are many miles of paths leading up through the foothills and into the higher peaks from where you can see many miles across Italy.

Weather in Alba, Italy
July and August are the warmest months in Alba, with daily temperatures reaching the mid-30’s (˚C) with great reliability. October and November are cooler, but still very pleasant, perfect for truffle hunts in the late evenings. Winters are much colder, especially if you are heading up into the mountains, with average monthly temperatures in December and January averaging around 5˚C.
Cheap flights to Alba, Italy
Turin Airport (TRN) is the closest to an Alba villa, located within 40km. There are regular flights to Turin from the UK, especially the London airports, provided by British Airways, Ryanair and EasyJet. Car hire is easily arranged, and there is a good train connection from Turin to Alba if you would prefer not to drive.
