The park is the biggest protected area in Portugal, and an impressive combination of beaches and hinterland.

You could, however, spend your evenings out of the house, as Almadena has a number of excellent restaurants that charge only a fraction of some of the more tourist-orientated eateries elsewhere in the region. The centre of Lagos is less than 10km from Almadena, and the old town is a great place to enjoy a drink or meal outdoors in one of the many restaurants that line its cobbled streets.
