Things to do on holiday in Arenal d’en Castell, Menorca

The shallow, horseshoe shaped bay upon which Arenal d’en Castell stands is very popular with young families as the water is clean, shallow and warm, sheltered from the worst of the elements by the protruding mouth of the bay. The beach is of course one of the most compelling reasons to take your family to stay in holiday rental accommodation in Arenal d’en Castell, and for good reason, as it has been awarded the coveted European Blue Flag. There are many water sports on offer from the beach, the best of which are windsurfing and water skiing.

The only golf course on the island, Son Parc, is within walking distance of a villa in Arenal d’en Castell, but it is probably better to drive, especially if you are carrying golf clubs, as the route is quite demanding, especially in the summer sun. The course is open to beginners and pros every day of the year too. If you are hoping to enjoy some good walking in the area, the peak of Mt Toro is both a magnificent viewpoint, but also the spiritual centre of Menorca, marked by the Sanctuary of the Mare de Deu del Toro.

In the summer, there are a few lively bars which spring up, allowing you to have a very enjoyable evening drink or two, but if you are looking for rowdy nightlife in Menorca, Arenal d’en Castell accommodation is probably not the best solution!

Son Parc is famous as an outstanding beach resort, as well as being the only place in Menorca with a golf course. Filled with bars, restaurants and a few clubs, Son Parc is a very relaxed and atmospheric place to visit, although much of the time in Son Parc is spent on the shallow beach or on the golf course.

Flights to Arenal d’en Castell, Menorca

A villa or apartment in Arenal d’en Castell is only around 12km from the International Aeropuerto de Menorca in Mahon (MAH), although due to the quality and route of the roads, this could take up to 40minutes! There are regular flights from the UK, and with fixed price taxis (costing around £17) and hire cars available, there should not be too much stress involved with the transfer from the Airport to your holiday rental in Arenal d’en Castell.
