The Atalaia complex is located within an easy 5 minute drive of Lagos’ beaches. There are a large number in the area, all boasting magnificently fine, golden sand and warm, clear water. The pick of the bunch, the Praia de Dona Ana, is a huge centre for water sports too. Fishing trips can also be arranged from the porters’ office in Atalaia.

The Boa Vista Golf Centre is located right next door to Atalaia. Many of the Atalaia apartments look out over the course, and anyone holding a handicap certificate can almost ensure a tee-off time. The course is beautifully maintained, with hugely challenging holes offering stunning views both across into the mountains and along the coast. There are also putting greens, driving ranges and a golf academy available in the centre.

The famous bars and clubs of Lagos start just 500m from Atalaia, and there are a huge number of attractions from the rocky cove of Ponta da Piedade to the beautiful Franciscan Monastery.

Atalaia receives some of the hottest weather in Europe. In July and August, temperatures average a simply staggering 35˚C, getting even hotter during the middle of the day. Taking a siesta through the heat of the day is not only a magnificently refreshing option, but also a hugely relaxing one, although, getting back out of the routine on your return to Britain could pose problems! Average temperatures remain over 20˚C from April until the end of October, and even in the coldest month, average temperatures remain above 15˚C.
