The impressive 15th Century Castle which still stands over the city is one of the few monuments to survive the War in and around Brest. The castle is a fantastic place to visit upon your arrival in a Brest villa, as it provides a stunning panorama over the city, and also holds the fascinating Musee National de la Marine, depicting the history and artefacts of the French Navy. The Musee de Vieux Brest is a wonderful place to visit directly afterwards, as it depicts the town on the eve of WWII. The museum is easily found, being housed in the dominant Tower of Tanguy which stands on the bank of the River Penfeld.

The Brest Aquarium or Oceanopolis Marine Centre is a wonderful place to visit from a Brest apartment, villa or holiday home, especially if you are travelling with children. There are always a variety of marine animal displays, as well as an excellent 3D cinema.

Many people come to Brest to enjoy the fantastic cuisine which the town is famous for. The huge range of restaurants are found throughout the town, mainly serving Breton recipes from crepe to seafood, all washed down with the excellent cider and beers of Breton.
