Bubion is a great base for a holiday in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, and at different times of the year can be populated with any combination of skiers, climbers, hikers, nature lovers and various other outdoor pursuits’ enthusiasts. If you can’t wait to head out and explore, you will find a number of marked trials leading away from the village, offering an instant start for both beginners and experienced walkers. The most experienced may even consider using Bubion as a base from which to take on Mulhacen, the highest peak in the range.

If you plan to visit Bubion simply to unwind, you will not be disappointed either. The lofty position of the village means that panoramic views can be enjoyed from all around its centre, and if you are lucky, your Bubion holiday villa may even offer these stunning mountain views from its own terrace, allowing you to relax with a drink and soak it the relaxing atmosphere.

This attractive village has attractions of its own as well, mostly housed in the whitewashed Moorish buildings that are so typical of the region. Bubion’s highlight is its 16th century church, which is basic in structure, but prominent nonetheless. There are a decent set of amenities in the village centre, including tapas bars, small restaurants and shops, with more to be found in the neighbouring villages of Pampaneira and Capileira.

Together with the nearby villages of Pampaneira and Capileira, Bubion makes up a designated region of artistic and historical importance. The other two villages are well worth a visit during your stay, and can both be reached on foot within 20 minutes. The use of a car will allow you to explore the Sierra Nevada region to its fullest, however, with the stretch from Bubion to Ugijar, 58km away, offering a plethora of traditional sites and attractions.

The weather in Bubion is perfect for spending long periods of time outdoors, with plenty of sunshine and little rainfall, even during the middle of winter. The elevated position of the region means regular snowfall occurs in winter, but summer temperatures can rise towards the magical 30C mark and beyond.

Flights to Bubion, Spain

Both Almeria (LEI) and Granada (GRX) airports can be used for getting to your Bubion villa, with the latter the nearest of the two, but often also the most expensive to get to. The exceptions are Ryanair flights from East Midlands, Liverpool and Stansted, which can be extremely cheap, but only run during certain months of the year.
