Bunyola is a small Majorcan town located 21km north of the capital Palma. Nestled in the spurs of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain rage, Bunyola is one of the few Majorcan settlements that has remained largely untouched by tourism. The holiday rental accommodation in Bunyola is sophisticated, upmarket and will provide visitors with a traditional Spanish base from which to explore this magnificent island.
Things to do in Bunyola, Spain
Bunyola is essentially a small, traditional inland town that does not see as much in the way of tourism as a lot of the coastal resorts do, and will not be found in a great number of tour brochures. It does, however, offer visitors the opportunity to sample a different side of Majorca – one of local customs, Spanish dialects (rather than those of holidaymaking Brit’s) and traditional cuisine. Around town you will find a small number of bakeries, bars, small shops and other traditional businesses, rather than the pubs, nightclubs and supermarkets found elsewhere on the island.
Bunyola has retained its traditional Spanish weekly market, and the town square is the place to head on a Saturday morning to pick up your fresh fruit and vegetables. The market trails off in the early afternoon, and if you don’t fancy a siesta you can head for a hike in the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains or jump in the hire car for a day of exploring. The use of a hire car is a near necessity here, as public transport is somewhat limited and the town is slightly removed from major tourist attractions of the island.
