If you are of an adventurous nature, then you might like to consider a holiday in Cameroon. This West African country has both a French and English colonial history, and in addition, boasts all the main African landscapes within one country. A holiday rental villa in Cameroon is a wonderful accommodation option for those people that truly wish to be independent as they explore this fascinating country. It has everything you need to feel comfortably at home from the moment that you arrive, to the moment that you leave once more.
The location of your self catering accommodation in Cameroon will have an effect on what leisure activities are available. If you are by the ocean, then you can expect all the normal things such as swimming, diving and kayaking. If staying near a major city, then there will be more than one golf course to choose from, and further inland, cycling, hiking and mountain climbing can all be enjoyed. These are only some examples of the many on offer during your holiday in Cameroon.
Visitors looking to take a holiday in Cameroon will find that the country has a lot to offer those that are willing to take the time to explore. It is a place of perfect contrasts, from unspoilt stretches of golden, sandy beaches, to Western Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Cameroon. The country also has its fair share of interesting museums, from ethnological through to art museums, and many of these can be visited in the main city of Douala. Any chance to take a trip to hear some traditional music should be taken, as should visiting any of the small villages that still maintain a way-of-life seemingly unchanged for thousands of years.
Cameroon is a large country, and so only a general guideline can be given about the weather there. From November through to February, the south of the country is hot and dry, whilst a rainy season runs from May through to October. The interior grassland areas are noticeably cooler than the coastal sections, and of course the plateau regions being higher up experience temperature drops at night. The best months to take a holiday in Cameroon are between January and April, when the rainfall is less and the temperatures not reaching the extreme highs.
The largest airport in Cameroon, is the international one located just a few miles outside of Douala (DLA). This mainly connects with other African countries, and in fact, no direct connection with the UK exists. Therefore, if you are looking to travel from the UK to your holiday rental villa in Cameroon, you should first fly to Paris (CDG), and from there, take an Air France flight through to Cameroon. If your self catering accommodation in Cameroon is in Douala, then you can simply organise transport there on arrival. If it is further afield, then you should organise a vehicle well in advance.
