The World Heritage site of Table Mountain is a National Icon. Rock climbers and mountaineers have a haven for climbing, and if that is too much effort for you, there is a cable car to the summit, with rocky trails around the summit to enjoy the spectacular 360º views of South Africa.

The Angling from Rooikrans, Strandfontein and Cape Hangklip is fantastic, and there is some challenging fishing to be enjoyed.

The city itself is a maze of points of interest, museums, galleries and beautiful architecture. However, for myself, the modern, bustling areas of Cape Town are the most interesting, with people adorning cafes, restaurants and the lively street markets. There are so many reasons to take Cape Town holiday accommodation, it is impossible to describe more than a pinch, and once you have come here once and scratched the surface, you will be returning to the self catering villa in Cape Town time and time again.

Robben Island is one of the most significant historic places in South Africa. As a colony for dangerous political prisoners from 1960, it was 'home' to Nelson Mandela for over twenty years. Today, a limited number of visitors are allowed to visit daily, with tours of the island, and walking and cycle routes into the nature areas of the island.

For nature lovers, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens holds over 500 species of indigenous plants. The Good Hope Nature Reserve is a magnificent local park where baboon, zebra, steenbok and 150 species of birds can be seen.

Boat trips can be taken to see the seals of Hout Bay or to Table Bay, or children can enjoy the rides of Ratanga Junction, the 'wildest place in Africa'! It is a large theme park rivalling the Disney parks. The Tygerburg Zoo is the largest in Africa, and is in within easy reach of all self catering accommodation in Cape Town.

Cape Town has a magnificent moderate climate, so is never stiflingly hot or bitterly cold. Summer temperatures can rise into the high 30s (ºC), but rarely reach 40ºC. Winters are mild, with snow only falling in the mountains, between April and August (winter).
