Catral is a compact maze of streets, which hide a wealth of treasures from those simply passing through. The central square, marked by the beautiful Church of San Quan and the impressive town hall or Ayuntamiento, is flanked with twisting shops, filled with small shops and pavement cafes, where you can happily watch the world drifting by for hours. The summer months are a fantastic time to stay in Catral accommodation, as there are a great number of festivals and fiestas to enjoy. The feast of Saint John the Baptist falls on the 24th June, marked by a day of carnival style parades and open-air events.
No visit to a Catral property would be complete without an exploration of the El Hondo Nature Reserve. These protected salt flats are home to a huge number of migratory birds, and is carved by a huge amount of walking and riding trails. The park is especially beautiful, with numerous reservoirs, salt flats and ponds home to vast amounts of nature.

Places to visit on holiday in Catral, Spain
The town of Almoradi is the closest town to Catral, and offers some of the finest restaurants, shops and markets in the region. Anyone wishing to try their hand at cooking local cuisine or enjoy traditional festivals during the summer should certainly take the time to visit Almoradi.
However, it is the beaches of Guardemar (Guardemar del Segura) that will really excite visitors to Catral accommodation. Located just 10km away, Guardemar Beach is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Alicante, covered in fine, white sand. Many, many hours can be spent happily stretched out in the sun, absorbing the relaxed atmosphere with the sun on your face and the sounds of the sea filling your ears. Water sports are readily available from Guardemar too, making it the ideal beach resort to visit from a Catral villa.

The weather of Catral is a real joy. There are some 300 days of bright sunshine each year, with peak temperatures often reaching up to 40˚C from the beginning of June until the start of September. Rain is rare at any time of year, especially during the hot summer months where balmy evenings last long into the night.
Cheap flights to Catral, Spain
A self catering Catral holiday villa is just 20 minutes drive from Alicante Airport (ALC). Alicante airport is bombarded with direct flights from across the UK on a daily basis, especially during the summer, provided by a great number of airlines operating out of the UK. It should be very easy to find a cheap and convenient flight to Alicante from the UK, and there are plenty of car hire options from the airport.
