Although the use of a vehicle is recommended to make the most of your stay in the village, you could, of course, simply decide to spend your entire stay within Cerro Do Ouro; with days spent walking and hiking in the surrounding countryside and nights relaxing in your holiday villa with a glass of local wine.
Cerro Do Ouro can also be used as a base for a beach holiday, with the nearest sandy stretches just 7km away, and a total of more than 20 to be found in the Albufeira region alone. The city of Albufeira has much to offer, blending together a beautifully-maintained old town and a thriving modern resort. Local bars, pavement cafes, top-drawer seafood restaurants and a classy marina are some of the main attractions here, but there are many more depending on your interests.

Paderne (6km) is one such village, being the home of a famous castle that dates back to the 12th century. Vilamoura (12km) is a great option for golf lovers, as it is surrounded by no less than four high-quality courses, with many more to be enjoyed both east and west along the coast.

The climate around Cerro Do Ouro is mild with little rainfall, making it a year-round destination. July and August are the hottest months, when temperatures rise to around 30C, whilst even the coldest months of December and January have an average daily temperature of 15C. Rain is rare between early June and late September.
