In the summer, Chamonix is still an adventure sport paradise. The cable cars take you to the centre of the Mont Blanc Massif, where there are 350km of hiking trails, 40km of mountain biking tracks, many cliff faces for climbing and mountaineering, paragliding and there is even an 18 hole golf course! In the spring, the melt waters rage down the rivers, making perfect conditions for white-water rafting weekends in Chamonix.

The town of Chamonix itself is very cosmopolitan, with vibrant après-ski and an architectural heritage which amazes first time visitors. The Alpine Museum lets you understand the history of Chamonix, and reveals a few secrets of Mont Blanc and the surrounding Alpine peaks.

Weather in Chamonix, France

From July to September, the weather is sunny and cool with temperatures hovering around 15?C, which is perfect for some of the strenuous walking, climbing and biking in Chamonix. The winters are of course cold, but not as bitter as some of the North American ski resorts, with average temperatures in January around -2?C.
