The 12th century Duomo Cathedral is also very impressive and has its own museum with remains of the 3rd century city walls in the gardens. A tour of Chiusi's underground tunnel system is also a fascinating step back in time.

The town square has many fine buildings and is the location of the Palio Horse race. This cultural pageant is performed on horseback, by skilled bareback riders (contrada) and the aim is to win the Palio, an ancient painted cloth. It takes place on July 2nd and August 16th each year.
