Things to do in Ciutadella, Spain
Although Ciutadella doesn’t have it’s own beach, there are numerous beautiful beaches located only 3km from Ciutadella. Cala en Bosh, L'Arenal de Son Saura, Cala en Turqueta and Cala Macarelleta are just some of the breathtaking beaches in the area where you can hire a pedal boat or swim in the crystal clear waters. Along the coast of Menorca, known as the ‘island of the wind’, you can enjoy sailing and windsuring as well as sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling, wreck diving, and fishing. There is also an attractive pier in Ciutadella with restaurants and cafés serving the local catch of the day.
The town has a strong religious history and there are numerous religious buildings and landmarks you can visit such as the Cathedral of Menorca. Another building of note is the 17th century Castell Sant Nicolas, which is now a gallery and is a great place to watch the sunset.
The Festes de Sant Joan is Menorca’s largest festival and takes place in Ciutadella each June. The highly recommended festivities include parades, horse racing, jousting, theatre performances and lots of pomada (a gin based drink).
Places to visit on holiday in Ciutadella, Spain

Menorca’s capital city Mahon (Maó) is 50km away and is a great place for a day trip. The bustling streets of Mahon are home to designer shops, quaint cafes, historic buildings such as Sant Francesc Church, as well as various museums and galleries. You can take a break from your sightseeing and enjoy a picnic in Es Freginal Park.
There are also interesting things to do outside of the main towns. The idyllic scenery of Menorca makes it a great place for walking, hiking, cycling and horse riding. The 17th Century mare de Deu Toro sanctuary sits on the peak of Menorca’s only mountain, Mount Toro and is a ‘must see’ attraction for anybody renting a Ciutadella villa. For those who enjoy being outdoors north Menorca is home to the only golf course on the island – Son Parc.

Ciutadella is blessed with over 300 days of sunshine a year. The town enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The rainy season is from October to December. Spring is the best time of year to visit, as the weather is warm but pleasant and the beaches are not crowded.
