Collazzone lies 25km south of Perugia, in the heart of the Umbria region. The region is famous for its roaming hills, and the commune of Collazzone is partially hidden on a ridge, meaning it is largely undiscovered by tourists and does not suffer from the many problems that mass tourism can bring. Its location also means that visitors to Collazzone will be treated to some of the finest scenery in the region, with pine forests, olive groves and small hamlets to be discovered when taking in the excellent nature walks around the town.

The main monument within the town centre is the 19th Century Parish Church of San Lorenzo, which is remarkably large in size for such a small town. Also well worth a visit is the 15th Century Oratory of San Michele, the 17th Century monastery and the Town Hall, and an enjoyable day or two can be spent simply exploring the town, stopping off every now and then for a coffee or ice cream, depending on the weather.
Being an Italian commune, Collazzone includes a number of smaller villages and hamlets within its territory, known as frazzone. These make for excellent touring, and can either be explored over 2-3 days by car, or visited individually on foot or by bicycle, as they are all within a few kilometres of Collazzone. These frazzone are: Teveraccio, Piedicolle, Collapepe, Casalalta, Gaglietole, Assignano and Canalicchio.
The nearby woodlands offer a number of recently-developed nature trails, which also connect the main sites of interest and offer a great way to explore the area. Traversing these by foot or bicycle will allow you to take in the glorious Umbrian countryside as you go, and it is even possible to enjoy the trails by horseback. The longest of the trails covers over 16km, and can easily fill a whole day if you include a picnic along the way.

As well as the surrounding frazzone, there are many nearby places to visit when staying in Collazzone. The town of Todi (20km south) is the main draw for visitors, with many tourist attractions to cater to all tastes. Also consider a day trip to the walled town of Massa Martana (21km south-east), which boasts some of Umbria's finest Renaissance churches.
