Colombiers, Herault in Languedoc-Rousillon - So Much to See and Do and Enjoy for All

We are situated 2 minutes walk from a charming medieval village and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Canal du Midi with its leisure activities of bars and restaurants suited for all pockets, cruising, renting a boat or bike or just taking a walk along its enchanting towpaths. There are also lots of small local shops, the Oppidum d'Enserne and the Tunnel of Malpas.

Within 15-20 minutes are lots of beautiful beaches, stretched along the 40 km of natural beaches of find sand, 17 rivers and sea ports of the Gulf of Lion coastline. Lots of tourists are attracted to the authentic and family environment with beaches such as Valras, Serignan, Vendres and the quieter (more savage) beach of Cabanes de Fleury.

We are at the heart of wine-growing with numerous chateaux estates and cellars such as Faugeres, Saint-Chinian, Minervois, La Liviniere, Pezenas and other quality wines not to mention the well-known aperitif wine, Noilly Prat. These wines accompany the shellfish of the Etang de Thau, Mediterranean fish, charcuterie of the Haut Languedoc region besides the chestnuts, cherries, olives and local cheeses.

The Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park is stunning for its amazing sights and the Plateau of the Lakes (highest point 1200m) with the joys of fishing, bathing and canoeing.

Cities with airports, such as Perpignan, Beziers, Carcassonne, Montpellier, and Nimes are all within one hour's distance and all are wonderful and exciting. The Pont du Garde and Avignon besides Barcelona are obviously hugely worth visiting too.

We have been visiting several times a year for 5 years and there is always more to see and do. Too much to write about here!
