The old city of Concarneau, Ville Close, is a very compact, highly fortified island just offshore from the modern city. Although the tiny fortified island can become a little crowded during the middle of the day, taking a holiday rental in Concarneau allows you to visit in the morning or evening, enjoying the treasures of the compact, twisting streets almost completely to yourself. Concarneau is France’s third most important fishing port in France, and the Musee de la Peche illuminates the history, culture and methods of whale, tuna and herring fishing. There is nowhere more relaxing and endearing to sit and have a coffee, sitting beside a gurgling stream, on a timeless, cobbled street in the sun.

Concarneau’s weather is wonderfully mild throughout the year. In summer, you can sail, swim or simply sightsee with a mouth watering Breton ice cream in temperatures usually reaching upwards of the 30˚C mark. Winters remain mild, with daily temperatures averaging around 5˚C in January.

Brittany is wonderfully easy to reach from the UK. There are a huge range of car ferries arriving on the coast of Brittany from the south coast of England.
