Holidaymakers looking for a great place to stay in the Pyrenees-Orientales department of Southern France may like to try Corsavy. This is a lovely place to spend a vacation where holidaymakers will find plenty of things to see and do. Here visitors will find numerous different places to stay including self catering accommodation, villas, apartments, cottages and B&Bs.
Corsavy is a great year round holiday destination with many activities nearby for visitors to enjoy including skiing in the winter at resorts such as Estacio d'esqui La Molina. This ski resort is 55 kilometres from Corsavy, but even closer is the Mediterranean Sea with some lovely sandy beaches to be found just 35 kilometres away. Golfers will find some good courses in the region including one less than half an hour away at Saint Laurent de Cerdans. Holidaymakers can enjoy some lovely places for hiking and cycling, whilst other activities available include mountaineering, horse riding, fishing and mountain biking. There are several good bars, cafes and restaurants serving excellent local cuisine in the area. In addition to this, self catering holidaymakers will be able to purchase provisions from shops and markets in and around Corsavy.
Corsavy is close to many places of interest including the Gorges de la Fou, which is a great sight only five kilometres away. The charming village of Castelnou is 20 kilometres away and is overlooked by a castle and Mount Caginou. A similar distance away is Prades where visitors can see a church with a very impressive bell tower dating back to the 12th century. A lovely train ride can be taken from the fortified village of Villefranche-de-Conflent. The little yellow train takes passengers to Bolquere, which is notable for the highest railway station in France. An hour’s drive to the south of Corsavy is the town of Figueres in Spain, where there is the Dali museum and numerous fashion shops.
This region in the South of France is mild throughout the year but is hottest in July and August when the temperatures reach an average high of 28 degrees centigrade. July is also the driest month with less than 25mm rainfall on average. As well as being the coldest months of the year at an average low of 5 degrees centigrade, December and January are also the wettest with around 90mm of rain per month on average.
The nearest airport to Corsavy is Perpignan – Rivesaltes Airport (PGF), which is approximately one hour’s drive away. Flights arrive here from Brussels-South Charleroi (CRL), Dublin (DUB), Manchester (MAN) and Southampton (SOU) as well as Paris-Orly (ORY). Six car hire firms are located at the airport including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. Taxis are available outside the terminal building.
