The whole family will enjoy a visit to Canonteign Falls. This 67 metre high fall is the tallest in the country. There is a well-appointed children’s play area that includes a zip line, trampolines and more. Those fond of history will enjoy a visit to the Mayflower Visitor Centre in Devon, 45 km from Drewsteignton. There is history of Plymouth as well as an entire floor devoted to the story of the pilgrims who sailed from this town. The Museum of Dartmoor Life, 15 km from Drewsteignton, provides visitors with a view of what life for residents of the area throughout the years.
The weather in Drewsteignton is quite mild. It is neither very hot in the summer nor terribly cold in the winter. Whilst on rare days the temperature may dip below freezing, the average lows in the winter are about 3 degrees.
In the summer, the weather is warm with average high temperatures of 18 to 20 degrees. There is some rainfall every month. The most rain occurs from October to January when 10 to 12 cm falls each month. The other months average about 5 to 7 cm each.
Getting to Drewsteignton is best done by train or plane. Both options will put travellers in Exeter which is just about 25 km from Drewsteignton. Those travelling by plane should choose Exeter Airport (EXT). Those travelling by rail would choose Exeter St. Davids as their final stop.There is also a ferry to Plymouth which is about 68 km from Drewsteignton.
